	I actually believed that Vader was truely there in the "tree of evil" on Dagobah. 	Three. All lightsaber related as it happens. - My friend once told me that your lightsaber turns red when you go to the dark side. - Qui-gon's lightsaber was passed down to luke which he used in ROTJ - This may be because of the old video I rented it on, but when I first saw ANH, I thought Luke's/Anakin's lightsaber was white, and that you could get white lightsabers. dean_burns posted: 4 - Aside from some of the "silly kid ones" I always thought - even up to the end of ATOC - that Anakin's turn into Darth Vader would be over a long time period rather than as a result of one event at the end of ROTS... i.e. I wanted to see him turn to the dark side as Anakin... then work for the Emperor and slowly lose limbs, and get parts of himself burned away as he used the dark side of the force... and then need a respirator to replace his lungs... and then slowly need all the stuff so that he was only in the Darth Vador armour for a year or two before the beginning of ANH... Do you mean his turning into Darth Vader, or his losing limbs/donning of the suit? His turn to the dark side went on over a long period of time, and Palpatine finalized it in III and renamed him. He was Darth Vader for a while before he put the suit on. The idea sounds pretty cool though. Which reminds me of another misconception: Anakin becomes Darth Vader at the end of III when the mask goes on, but that's more common outside the fanbase.

	Adding some detail to the idea of Vader "burning away"... I read somewhere (or heard?) in one of the EU projects that the dark side wears at you and corrupts you... and that built on the cave from Yoda's comments in ESB that started it... but we knew that Vader wasn't in the costume "way back" and that he and Obi Wan knew each other... so somewhere after ROTJ (1984-ish to about 1989-ish even) I used to draw Vader as a guy that looks a cross between Mark Hammil (but bald like Sebastain Shaw at the end of ROTJ) and the Terminator with half his skin removed... and slowly as the dark side used up his body for energy it would decay and fall off... Darth Vader was a slow mental process for Analkin that ended in RTOS (E3), but after that, I still pictured many years where a cybernetic half-man would rule the Empire (at the heels of the Emperor) before the black helmet would be finally put on... I even thought that part of Vader's anger and aggression was because the dark force usage finally castrated him... (that would make me mad)... and why he didn't use the force very often in the movies (i.e. because it does eat away - "why else wouldn't he be tossing things around and jumping everywhere unless there was a strong reason not to?" or so I would think... )... Also: I used to think that the clone wars (as references by Obi Wan in ANH) referred to war about a large cloning factory where anyone could go into a cloning device and popping out new clones of whomever went in it... so tons of different soldiers and jedis used to be clones during this war... and the war was over the cloning equipment...
