I just remember another misconception: I read that Gamorreans were "piglike" and thought they would be cute, pink pigs. Imagine my surprise when I watched Episode VI and found out that the green ugly things were Gamorreans.

I remember thinking that the Asteroid Belt in ESB was just the remains of Alderaan.

Small galaxy, huh? happy

monkey GrannyWan, there were other neat space things like Forbidden Planet, though its effects seem primitive now. Robby the Robot looked kinda like a primitive Lucas effort. But no, Star Wars burst on the scene and eclipsed all other space movies, to me. applause

Well for me, I have 2 I can remember.

1st was in the cantina where the guy says "I've got the death sentence on 7 systems", and I thought he said "I've got the death sentence of the 7 sisters". I always felt sorry for their family!

2nd was the old lightsabre one, where I thought Obi Wan used Lukes lightsabre with the fight with Vader. The reason I thought this was because I thought it was a really cool weapon and although Obi Wan gave it to Luke he stole it back for himself because he didn't really want Luke to have it!

Oh, and one more, the first time I saw ESB and Obi Wan appears on Hoth infront of Luke I thought he was blue because he was cold!

I thought that Han died in ESB. When I saw a ROTJ screenshot with Han Solo in it, I was like "What the?....

Kinda a weird one...

In ANH, when Luke is looking through his macrobinoculars to find R2, he does a 360 and the homestead passes by.

I thought the homestead was R2, and couldn't understand why Luke was so blind.

It is not known to most people that Star Wars is based on the Akira Kurosawa film The Seven Samurai, a 1954
Japanese masterpiece wherein a team of 19th century Samurai free a princess by attacking a space station.

When I was young, however long before word of the new movies began to surface, I was so confused as to why my SW movies started with "IV". I spent a long time wondering what happened to the first three. Then after a few years news of the prequels hit and I had it figured out then.

I thought the Wampa was Chewie's brother that was exiled on Hoth for divorcing some wookie chick.

Wow, I had that same misunderstanding! I also wondered by Threepio isn't seen, since Luke pans right past him.

I used to think that the Empire didn't build another Death Star for RotJ, and instead it just salvaged the remains of the first one and built on top of it.

I also got the idea, from one of my friends, that if there were more movies after RotJ Han would become a Jedi.

I wasn't really a kid when I watched Star Wars for the first time, but I did have some odd ideas...

One I hung onto for a long, long time was that the "Return of the Jedi" was Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin coming back as glowy spirits and that they were around to stay. Only years later I realized that the Jedi returned through Luke, who completed his trials in this movie and that the Force Ghosts were just saying goodbye and giving their blessings to him and his future efforts. (of course, that also kinda ruined the movie for me, it feels a lot sadder now)^^.

For the longest time I thought Boba Fett was the same guy that played in that movie Rockefeller (I think that's the name, I never actually watched it), the one where the guy flies around with a rocket pack.
