looking back when i was young all i remembered was jabbas sail barge (inside it when it was dark) C-3PO talking to the thing with 1 eye, luke walking through the passage to jabas place, yoda talking and the final duel (all mainly in ROTJ)
i thought tatooine was earth and thta jedi were the pilots

When I first saw ROTJ I thought that Luke's hand actually turned black from the darkside because he cut off Vader's hand. I thought that whatever piece of Vader Luke cut off, the darkside would consume that part of Luke's body. I thought Darth Vader was black because he killed so many people and was consumed by the darkside.
Unfortunately, I did not realized that Luke was wearing a black glove for almost the entire movie until I was a few years older and watched it on video.

When I was really young, I thought the Star Destroyer in the opening scene of ANH was Leia's ship (6 year old logic dictates that the good guys would have the better ship). When they captured the corvette, Vader turnred the tables and overtook the Star Destroyer.
I remember thinking, "Wow, this guy is good!"

Well, these aren't really misconseptions, but scenes I thought I remember seeing as a kid. In ANH I remember a scene after they take out the stormies on the falcon, but before they take over the docking bay control room, where Luke and Han find a rack of stormtrooper uniforms and put them on.
I also remember seeing luke inside an AT-AT. Right after he slices open the access hatch he climbs in, sets charges like those used in ROTJ, then jumps out.
I don't know where I got these scenes from. They must have been dreams or something.

I always thought that Han shot Greedo under the table without Greedo having any idea it was coming...

When I saw the Leia scene in ANH with the torture droid, I thought Vader was giving her vaccines.

RE: The misconceptions you had about Star Wars, when you were a kid.
Mine is not really a misconception, but I think it's amusing enough to be added here. My very first exposure to Star Wars was on the school bus, reading the comic book over a friend's shoulder. He showed me the panel where Ben gets vaporized (which is much more intense in the comic than the movie, btw).
So when my mom finally took me to see it (at about age 9, I guess, I kept repeating to her "Ben's going to die soon. This must be where Ben dies, etc." over and over from the moment he first appeared 'til it actually happened! Ah, my theater neighbors must have ADORED ME!
Also, I used to forget whether some of the action figures I'd collected actually appeared in the movie or not, or if they were "extras" (EU, for example) that weren't really featured. I distinctly remember going to a re-release and wondering if the whole Greedo scene was something I'd actually SEEN or if it was something in my imagination. Imagine then my pleasure at realizing it really was in there.

Not really a Star Wars misconception, but I used to think EU only meant anything that happened after ROTJ.

Well, I thought when I was a kid that EpI-III were already written, and someone told me they were written in a yellow book. So I looked in the library for all the old yellowed books

My friend once told me that his older brother told him that Luke was a robot. He didn't believe him at first but after his brother showed him the scene where Luke got a new hand and you could see the wires inside he cried.
