When Yoda doesn't let on that HE is the Jedi Luke is looking for, I thought that he was Yoda's cousin. You know, I knew what he looked like so I thought "If he's not Yoda, then he must be Yoda's cousin".

I remember thinking that Oola - the dancer at Jabba's palace - fell into the hole in the floor, and then was turned into a frog. Then Jabba ate her.

Since i only saw ANH when i was 7 (being 19 now) . I heard that Lucas was going to make new movies(prequels). then a when i saw ESB adn ROTJ, i thought THEY were the new ones.
+ i saw ROTJ before ESB, but i was still too stupid to realise that Vader was his father. .
i also thought OB1's battery ran out!
and i never understood taht "that, is why you fail" line from ESB until i was like 10.
OHHH and another bit was i never understood why Yoda's dying words were "there is...another.....sky...rock" instead he said "sky..walker"
and i started writing Lucas a letter and drawing pictures for the preques posters thinking he will use it.. man that was i on?

when I saw the word 'rebels' in the opening crawl (in 1977), I thought that the movie was going to be about the United States Civil War.
I thought that the stormtroopers were droids. but I called them 'robots', (not 'droids')
I used the term 'lifesaver'.

I also thought stormtroopers were droids. I also thought Threepio was a real person, just in a funny gold suit. Why? I asked my brother if Threepio was a robot, and he said, 'nah, it's just a guy in a suit' so that's what I thought he was meant to be in the movie.

lets see here, i always thought that princess leia says to tarkin "dantooine, your own dantooine." meaning in my mind i thought that tarkin was from dantooine. then one day i noticed it was "dantooine, they're on dantooine."
also me and my chilhood friends came to the horrifiying conclusion that obi wan was alive and had escaped in the nude. jst a naked old man running through the death star

Here's another one that I forgot earlier...
When I was little, I thought that the lightsaber that Luke uses in ESB was Obi-Wan's. For some reason the fact that Ben gave Luke his father's lightsaber never registered with me. But don't ask me to explain how Luke could have had Ben's saber. I can't remember what my reasoning was on that (or if I even had a reason).

Vaders_LaMent
et al - The confusion at "Episode IV" is my earliest SW memory.
vw_jedi
- since it's not been explicity explained how Jedi disappear and stuff, you may just be right!
(And it would explain why Qui-Gon didn't disappear; maybe he just wasn't comfortable enough with his body to run around Naboo naked.)
Hmm... would the Jedi have been more or less imposing naked?

I never used the term "lifesaver." I used the far superior "lightsaver", I thought they were like solar powered or something

I always thought that Luke and Vader were simple magicians... later on I learned they used the Force. I was like 7 years old, I thought the Force was something else!

I've got one nobody else has- I thought the first Death Star run was a game, sort of like the Olympics. Some kind of contest. It was because of the medals at the end, with the award ceremony!

RE: The misconceptions you had about Star Wars, when you were a kid.
I was old enough to notice that 'Episode IV' was added in the first rerelease of SW, but young enough to get very confused by it!
Also, many of you mentioned that you thought Stormtroopers were droids. So did I, but I also thought Darth Vader was - he even had a control panel on the front of him! And I blindly believed that until I was about 7... when ESB came out, and I figured that it was pretty unlikely that a robot could be Luke's father...
