I thought the Stormtroppers and Darth Vader were droids, too.

I thought that Luke cut Vader's head off for real during that vision in the cave. When you saw Luke's head in there I thought, "Luke's Darth Vader? Is it a clone?"

I also thought Jabba was working for the Empire.

When Princess Leia got stunned in ANH, I was convinced she died but was brought back to life.

I didn't understand what was happening when Leia was tortured in ANH. I saw Vader come in with the flying circle with the needle, and I thought she was getting a shot because she was sick.

I thought it was Dark Vader.

I was also confused with the Obi-Wan/Luke lightsabers. I thought Obi-Wan used Luke's father's lightsaber in that scene.

I didn't know that C3PO and R2D2 were actually actors in costumes. I thought they were real robots.

lmao, you guys, these are hilarious!!! here's mine:

i saw ESB and ROTJ before i saw ANH, but i knew that the rebels blew up the 1st death star, but since i didn't see the explosion i thought that the DS2 was the first one and they were just fixing it.

when yoda didn't tell luke who he was right away, i thought he was working for the empire and was trying to stall until DV came. when DV showed up in the cave i thought, "aha! i was right!"

when i saw ANH i didn't realize who ben was right away because i didn't know he was alive in the movies at all. i thought he was killed a long time ago and showed up one day as a ghost to help luke.

i also thought it was a lightsaver too, because luke used it in ROTJ to deflect the guns on the speeder bikes on endor, so i thought it was the personal shields used in the GFFA. and i thought everyone was just pronouncing it weird, like with an accent or something.

i didn't understand about the ep IV thing either, and when i asked my parents they told me that GL must have been on drugs or something because a lot of people did drugs during the time they were made, so for a long time i thought he just numbered them wrong because he was on drugs and forgot how to count, and i thought it was very sad.

the second time i saw ROTJ, when luke first came to jabba's, i recognized the cloak as being similar to the one the emperor had, so i thought he had joined the emperor and then when they got out of jabba's palace he turned back to a good guy. i didn't know it was the same movie then, i thought there were a lot of episodes so i thought it was a different episode.

i used to think the big hologram palpy in ESB was going to get mad at vader and lean over and eat him. i kept thinking that the first couple times i saw it, too, like it was going to change one of those times.

i thought chewie came from the same planet as the ewoks, he was just a different version (like how there are housecats and lions sort of thing).

that's all i can think of right now. happy

I didn't have many misconceptions.

I first saw ESB and RotJ when I was five or six.I hadn't seen ANH so I thought the TIE fighters were robotic satellites sent to destroy the rebel fighters(I'd heard about satellites and seen pictures.I'd also seen toons with kiler satellites)

I thought Jabba was a giant frog.

That's about it. plain

When I was really little, I thought the Death Star in ROTJ was the same one as ANH, only it had part of it blown off! I couldn't read the opening crawl so I didn't know what was going on.

I remember thinking that vader and the Stormtroopers were robots. I called the lightsabers "life savers" as well.
I remember seeing ESB, and when I saw it was called Epsiode 5, I figure that episodes 2-4 were covered in the Marvel Comics.
I remember hearing that Frank Oz was going to perform a character in ESB, and when I saw the trailer, I thought that the Mynock on the window of the Falcon was that new character.
I remember seeing ESB, and thinking that Yoda sounded like a really old Grover (that hasn't changed must in the past 22 years).
And I had the record of the movie. It covered about an hour of the film, and I always thought that when Obi Wan said "You would have been killed too, and the droids would now be in the hands of the Empire" to me I heard (due to a scratch in the vinyl) "You and these kids would now be in the hands of the Empire"

1) I too thought it was Dark Vader untill I got the Story book. I was further confused by the fact that some of my friends kept saying Dark Vader and I was worried I was wrong and there was no such thing as a "Darth."

2) While I alays got the whole Luke/Kenobi LightSaber thing, My best friend didn't, I remeber watching the ANH video in like 83 with him yelling, "Grab the Lightaber Luke!" again I thought, was there just a HUGE scene I had missed every time I saw the movie.

3) I thought Lukes Saber was yellow cause his figures was.

4) When I saw the first art for ROTJ and I saw the DSII, I thought George had decided to stop the trilogy and make the prequels then and I was so mad cause I was like "what about Han and Vader being Luke's father.

5) I thought Vader had Asthma, (my parents told me that cause I had Asthma and was in the Hospital alot when I was 4,5,&6, and this way I wouldn't think of Asthma being so bad)

6) I was never quite sure either way about the Storm trooper robot thing.

7) I was very confused as to why the stormtroopers wore white because I thought only good guys wore white

8) I thought Boba Fett was Vader's "Best Friend"

little note, one, after ESB I was quite upset at the idea of Leia going back and forth btwn Han and Luke, and i thought it wouldn't be fair to whoever didn't end up with her, so when I used to play, I decide Leia and Luke were bro and Sis.

1) Dark Vader--I called him that for the longest time, until I got into a fight with a kid at school over it

2) Luke, Obi-Wan, and Vader owned lightsavers

3) Jedi Knights were called Jedee Knights

4) When the SE was released, I thought they were brand new Star Wars movies, not 20 year old movies that were fixed-up.

5) I tricked my cousin into thinking that the thing on Threepio's back was a microwave that allowed him to fly! I still can't believe he bought that one!

I also remember thinking that Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt were the same person. Of course this was after listening to the children's audio book, and not the movie.

When I was real little I only saw ANH and ROTJ for some reason. So I thought Luke getting his new cyborg hand shot in the begining of ROTJ was his real hand, and that was why he had a cyborg hand. It also puzzled me why Han was in stone, it all was explained when I saw ESB for the first time! It was liking watching the prequel trilogy!

Waheenay I also thought that Veers said that. It just didn't sound like he was saying "landing".

Up!

Heres one that just came to me while watching ROTJ. I remember thinking for years that Lando said. "Split up and head for the surface and see if you can get some of those type-writers to follow you!".

Ah.. a truly wonderful topic that broght me out of my long time lurking. In my school rumors and lies about SW was very common when ROTJ was released. Two of my favorites:

  1. The buttons on Vaders chest could be used to activate his self-destruction mechanism. But if you pushed the wrong set of buttons, one rebel soldier would die!

  2. Boba Fett's helmet couldn't be taken off, so the actor who played him agreed to carry it from ESB to ROTJ, thus sacrificing himself for the art. happy

I used to think that Luke's X-Wing on Dagobah was actually a boat that was sinking.

On Endor, I thought the rebels lived in the shield generator and the stormtroopers came in to capture them. Then (somehow I missed some scenes) the rebels locked the stormtroopers inside and blew it up.

I thought Star Wars was a TV series and that the first episode ended when the Falcon escaped from the first Death Star.

I thought that the Emperor got thrown into a giant sewer on the Death Star.

For some reason, I confused some other toy for the Falcon and I thought it had the ability to launch X-Wings from the bottom.

I thought Jabba the Hutt was a big pervert (he is though) and made Oola's shirt come off (I don't know why I thought her shirt came off).
