In ROTJ, when Yoda tells Luke "No, there is another..." I childishly beleived that he had said "No, there is a brother" making me think, until I found out Liea was his sister of course, that Han was Luke's brother!

Oh yeah, and I thought that Jabba the Hutt was scary.

I heard him say another, but also thought it would be Han.

But I thought that after "there is another" and then we see spaced out Leia saying "Luke..." the worst suspicions began to form in my mind, which were later proved in ROTJ.

Very perceptive of you, I must say. I had to watch ESB a couple of times just to let the idea of Darth Vader being Luke's father sink in. tongue

Well, I wasn't totally certain, but it just didn't look like the whole "love triangle" was going to turn out like I hoped. Hey, I wasn't the only one. In the CFQ double sized issue on SW at the time of it's release, there's an interview with Carrie Fisher. When asked what would be interesting to see in the next movie she replies, "Luke and Leia could get married."

Anyone else think that Tarkin's name was Tuck?

Darth Reign, I thought he was Governor Tuck, too. Between Carrie Fisher's pronunciation and after the meeting in which it was said that the Emperor had dissolved the last vestiges of the old Republic and the local governors would be in power! LOL! Great thread.

I used to think that the Rebels were the "bad guys" and that the Empire were the "good guys"

So I just got the names mixed.

I still think the Rebels are the bad guys. They just want to create chaos and disorder.

OK I'm not sure if this even has anything to do with Star Wars films per se, but You know that 20th century fox logo before the start of the movies? When I was a kid I thought the searchlights were lightsabers.

Hell, until I saw ESB, I thought Darth Vader was black! He was so menacing, and big, and cool. He would just crush people's throats cause he wanted to. He was baaaaaad! I thought, as a 6 year old black kid watching all my dad's Shaft tapes, Darth Vader had to be black!! He had his own theme music. How could he not be a brutha?

Then Vader blew my mind and busted on whitebread Luke and said he was his daddy!!! I was like, whaaaaaaaaat!? First off, no one that badass would admit to being whiny Luke's daddy if he really wasn't. Second, I realized that no dictator like the Emperor would put a brutha second in command. Just wouldn't happen.

So, all that was left was Lando...

1. Okay like everyone else, I too thought the Stormtroopers were robots.

2. I was really creeped-out when Luke lands on Dagobah and I distinctly remember covering my eyes because I knew some-THING was going to be there.. However, when Yoda began to speak I quickly uncovered my eyes because I thought Luke was talking to who else but Grover from Sesame Street! Ahh the multi-talented Frank Oz! applause

3. I thought that 'Bantha Poodoo' was Bantha poo-poo. Even the subtitles didn't help that one. How many 10yr olds know that fodder is food?

And here's a couple of funny SW notes about myself to boot;

My best friend and I would get into fights about how things and/or places, that had been named only in print at the time, were pronounced. For example: My friend thought Tatooine was pronounced tah-TOONY.

He and I would also have knock-down, drag-out fights about who got what toy first. When I proudly displayed my new AT-ST I remember him tackling me and his mom literally had to pull him off of me, kicking and screaming. Of course, the year before I had beat the crap out of him because he threw my beloved X-wing and broke it.

Finally, when I saw ESB I was 7 and saw it with my older cousins. When we walked out of the theater they were teasing me because I was rubbing my eyes. They thought I was crying because Han was frozen/Luke's hand got chopped off. I turned and told them "I'm not crying! My eyes hurt because I didn't blink through the whole movie!" Except for the Yoda scene, of course. grin

I also thought that I'd missed episodes 1,2,and 3 when I saw the crawl for ANH

I thought it was "lifesaver"

For some wierd reason-don't ask me why-the first time I saw TPM, I thought they were cremating Maul in the end, not Qui-Gon.

My mom didn't know Anakin Skywalker was Darth Vader until she watched ROTS...she thought the prequils had nothing to do with the originals. Couldn't stop laughing about that one..

Why is the background of this message board pink??????

When I was four, I thought Yoda always spoke in Spainish since I didn't have the willpower to understand him.

Why not? He had a "brutha's" voice. Yeah, pasty old white guys are such a disappointment aren't they? Have you been watching _Chasing Amy_?
