Yep. grin

Anyway, I stand correctly the book from 1983 states "Lying, still and robed, atop the mound, was the lifeless body of Darth Vader." I beleive this is due to GL revising whole Jedi vanishing trick. Originally, it was simply a trick that Obi-Wan learned from Yoda but now it's a bit deeper than that now. Go check out the Databank at www.starwars.com for Yoda's information. Inside the Episode II stuff you'll notice a important note about Jedi existing after death. happy

"Then we must conclude from that scene that Vader isn't quite dead just yet. He most likely dies a few seconds after the scene ends."

laugh How cruel!

He was burning ONLY the suit. It was to get rid of it, and to the Rebels, to get rid of the apparatus that kept the 2nd most evil person alive.

I'm sure Luke didn't start telling everyone that Vader was his dad and stuff. Even if he did tell them Vader turned back, you think they care? I don't.

ousley, that would make some sense, but it would be awfully anticlimactic if that were Luke's actual reasoning. Luke had to confront Vader so he could come to grips with the evil in himself instead of trying to control it and cover it up until the day it finally popped out so overwhelming developed that it would consume him just like it did Anakin, right? Luke pretending that Vader was not his father or making a secret of it would be equivalent to covering up the evil in himself, and he would not truly be a Jedi unless he openly admitted his parentage.

"Originally, it's simply a trick Obi-wan learned from Yoda...."

That's just it, Yoda only taught Obi-wan how to master the vanishing trick but how is it that Anakin managed to disappear upon death when nobody ever taught him how to do it?

With that question in mind, I've come to the conclusion that Anakin's body is still present when he died (which both the original version and the SE of ROTJ has shown) and that the body is in the suit while Luke is cremating it.

Lucas said this in the TPM DVD's commentary.

Good point Dark Lady Mara, I was just thinking, though, would the Aliance still want him around, knowing who his father is, and knowing his genes are in him, and the same thing could happen?

We truly won't know if Anakin disappeared until we see Episode 3. Then only will we know if Obi-wan ever taught the disappearing trick to Anakin.

The whole disappearing thing and having a ghost might be TWO seperate things. Afterall we did hear Qui-Gon's ghost and he never disappeared.

Dude I don't think there's much need for Luke in the rebellion or the rebellion itself for that matter. They'll just call up Valorum who is sleeping drunk in the cantina to come back into office and the rebels just chill. I think they would understand anyway.

Lucas said this in the TPM DVD's commentary.

He said Vader was in the suit?

Well, the one thing that we DO know, is that Vader didn't know about the vanishing trick when he killed Obi-Wan. He acts a bit confused in the movie and appreantly, in the ANH, it totally freaked out the watching storm troopers.

I think it'll be all explained in Episode III.

Actually I believe vader was consumed by the ewoks as a feast in C-3PO's honor.

There is smoke rising from the gratings of his mask, and I don't think plasteel would have done that. So, whatever George has said, we have direct observational evidence to contradict him. grin
