First off all...DO NOT TOUCH THE THRONE ROOM SCENES.
I would add more detail to the scene where Luke turns hiself in, and has that conversation with vader. "Obi-Wan once thought as you do." would be a great place to add in some stuff concerning Padme, Ben, why he turned to the dark side and joined the Emperor.
Music scene from Jabba's Palace needs to go.
Perhaps a little more Fett. Maybe fire a few shots that Luke deflects before he cashes himself in to the sarlacc.
I like the ewoks. It is a good thing that Lucas shows some of them being killed in battle. It seems from watching sometimes at 100 stormtoopers/battle droids die for every rebel/republican (no not those republicans).
What happened to Han? What's up with the kiss he gives Leia at the end? Thats how a parent kisses their 7 year old on the cheek. Looks like they don't care about each other at all, at least not compared to ESB.

If Luke and Leia would find out a bit more about their past, esp. their mummy, the end would be far more satisfying!

A lot of the posts here seem to be forgetting the only rule the original post had: "You can't change the big things (e.g. No Coruscant to replace the Death Star, No Kashyyyk to replace Endor). You have to work with the basic plot, and within the realm of realistic 2002-2004 computer technology." Naturally this would mean anything involving the main characters has to stay the way it is, since they are all 20-something years older.
So with that in mind, there are only a few things I would change:
1) DEFINITELY more time spent on the space battle. As many people have posted here, we need shots of the capital ships battling Star Destroyers. And how about a couple hundred more TIE fighters, just for the hell of it.
2) MORE Ewoks. Yes, more Ewoks. Again many people have mentioned this, but it would make the battle seem a little more plausible, since we cannot change it to Wookiees.
3) If there is any unused footage of Luke trying to fight back against the Emperor it would be great to include that in the DVD edition.
4) Most importantly - FIX THE DAMN RANCOR! The rest of the effects hold up great, but the Rancor looks like it was done by gradeschool children back in the 1950's. That really needs to be spruced up a bit.
That's all I can think of though. Other than that, I really like it the way it is.

I agree, that's about it.
But, Lucas might want to make Vader fade away when he dies to be in line with the Episode 3 death/jedi/force revelation.

There are two things I'd hate, HATE to see changed in ROTJ: Luke/Vader duel (it was awesome!) and the space battle/assault on the Death Star (great action compared to ANH!). I really wouldn't change a thing about the original ROTJ other than fix some of the compositing shots... like the pet monster of Jabba's (Ranchor? I think?...)

the scene between luke and ben on dagobah just didn't do it for me. ben talks about how vader is more machine than man, but doesn't say how. luke just takes everything the ben tells him and doesn't follow up. wasn't he even a little bit curious as to who his mom was and why him and leia were separated and why he ended up on tatooine. everything was just a little vague. i guess i'll have to put that in the"hope it's explained in ep.3" threads.

One thing always bugged me in the SE... how did everyone at the end know the Emperor was dead? First of all, how would they knew the Death Star II blew up... and if they did know, how would they know he was on it?
I would keep the Ewoks (yes, I would, though a wookie planet wouldn't be bad), but not have them beat the stormtroopers with rocks and sticks... the rock and stick ideas totally defeated the purpose of armor.

Yeah, you think that the Ewoks could have at least used arrows. That and they didn't really out number the Stormtroopers all that much. If primatives are going to beat an army, they should have like 5 to 1 odds.

I dunno, but since it messes with EU, I like it 
Let's see, what would I change? ROJ is great as a whole, but the pacing of the Tatooine segment is a bit tiresome. It's just the line-up-to-get-captured segment of the movie. If that was a typical Luke plan, no wonder Han was worried.

I would have loved to see Han have a showdown with Boba Fett and see him get his revenge. Boba Fett's slapstick death has always bothered me.
