I'd be happy with Qui-Gon ANYTHING. A GH figure would be extremely cool.

HumanJedi_024 posted: darksidedesign ... very cool way to store the figures! I love how you put the box art behind each one!
Thanks man! I wish I could say it was my original idea, but I saw some on eBay.
They were way too expensive and yet pretty simple to make. So I saved some
money by picking up the cases and putting the images in the bottom.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to come up with a good permanent way to attach
the pics. With little kids, that is usually the first thing they will try to do is peel them
up. Sure enough my 2 year old has picked his little fingers pink trying to get em up.
I am proud to say they have been 100% kid proof... so far. Never underestimate the
deductive mind of a 2 year old.
I still need to put up some pics of the large storage case we are keeping all of our
GH stuff in. We just upgraded to a larger box, so I still need to get the custom decals
printed up and applied to the outside of the box.

I'm very surprised they never went back and did TPM figures. I expected to see a Qui-Gonn/Jar-Jar or young Obi-Wan/Darth Maul set hit the shelves long ago, but I guess it never went that direction. I can totally envision many of these figures in my head, straight down to the packaging...who knows what's yet to come, though?

They actually did release a set called Duel with Darth Maul. It came before they were called
Galactic Heroes. It had a Naboo Starfighter, Darth Maul, Obi Wan, Young Anakin and a
Battle Droid. Pretty neat set. I am sure they will rerelease it under the GH name.
Here is a link of all the sets they released before GH came about:

Nice...I thought it was wierd that so little TPM stuff had shown up. He looks almost exactly like I imagined he would. A friend of mine collected most of these larger sets long before I took an interest in the figures, and I spent a lot of time admiring the unopened packages (he had a huge room with no furniture and lots of overflowing tubs of obscure SW stuff I'd never seen, but he was a Director of Nursing, so he could afford it). I hope they release a lot of these cool figures again in a way that cheapskates like me can afford to indulge on a whim. I liked the bigger sets, but as I said, could never afford to buy them when I saw them.

What blows me away is what these sets are going for on eBay.
Last time I checked, the Duel with Darth Maul set was going
for an average of $50.
I got all of the original Playskool sets before they came out
with the Galactic Heroes. I think I paid a total of $50 for all
of 'em. That included the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, Duel with
Darth Maul, Fast Through the Forest, Arena Adventure and the
Stompin' Wampa. I got most of them on clearance. If I were to
throw all of 'em up on eBay right now, I could make a killing!
No chance of that... my kids love 'em too much. Who am I kidding?
They're mine!

Well, this is definitely a case of the early bird getting the worm. It's cool to discover a fun and interesting product that's gone overlooked initially (and put on clearance), and have a chance to collect the best of it before it's "popularized". Once that happens, though, and everyone thinks it's a big money opportunity, in come the scalpers and price jackers and other folks who take the fun out of collecting, and the late comers lose out. I wish I'd thought to invest more resources into this line when I first saw them at my friend's house, but I just didn't have the same appreciation for them then as I do now (if I had, the Falcon and X-Wing might have come a bit cheaper).

I just finished my first-ever custom figure.
You guessed it, it's a Galactic Heroes fig!
You can check it out in the customs thread:

Looks great! That could easily be one of the actual figures in the line, no question. I'd be interested to see what else you can come up with in the way of customs...that's an excellent way to kick things off!
This figure got me to thinking...I'm surprised we've never seen a Jabba GH set. He's usually one of the first "creatures" they make in most lines, along with the wampa, which they already did.

I bought the original playskool sets for my duaghter ( ) just before she was born. I was heartbroken when it seemed like the line was over. The Galactic Heroes are excellent. I just want more beasts and more movie-related vehicles.

WOW! Preston, that's amazing! Great work!
I tracked down a couple sets I've been looking for tonight -- Darth Vader & Obi-Wan and Jedi Luke & Gamorrean Guard.

That Han in carbonite ROCKS! I do find it rather disconcerting that he's grinning being encased in carbonite though
I wish they'd extend things out to the beasts, vehicles, etc again also. I saw the original Playskool guys back when I wasn't working and had to pass on them. They're just soooo cute!

Those two sets are two of my favorites...next up would be the one with Boba Fett. The Gamorrean is definitely one big hunk of plastic...in a good way...:) The Vader really is the top of the heap as far as the figures go...they really put a lot into him as opposed to some of the other ones (I'm not bashing any of the other figures, I just wish a couple others had moving limbs also).

Wow dsd! That frozen smuggler does look amazing! Hope to see some more of your creations!
I don't know which paint would work with the GH figs though. They do seem to be made of different material than standard action figs. Maybe they're vinyl? Hasbro might have the answer. Ask nicely though
