Need Help with 2 things that have been bugging me for ages

First thing, when I was a kid and collected my star wars figures I loved looking on the back of the cards to see what figures I would hope to have next. On the ROTJ cards two figures were blacked out (Logray/Chief Cherper) Why? When I first saw this as a small boy I thought are these some new blob monsters LOL.
Second thing, I went to a collecters fair a few years back and I saw a vintage Owen Lars card for sale, it looked like a prototype but had no bubble and was only the card. It was quite a lot of money. Was there going to be a figure made or was this a custom card? my feeling are it was real. But I have never seen or herd of a prototype vintage Owen Figure.

The reason Chief Chirpa and Logray were blacked out, is because Lucas wanted to keep the appearance of the Ewoks in RotJ a secret. I too thought "what strange creatures are those" when I was a kid 
As far as I know, there isn't a vintage prototype Owen Lars, let alone a vintage figure.

Hey, Fireant, this is a dumb question, but are you
sure that wasn't the Anakin Skywalker POTF cardback?
At first blush I kinda think it looks like Owen.
Of course you aren't as dumb as I am and would have
read the name on the card so that's probably not it.
 My only guess is that it was a
fan made card or something 'cause to my knowledge
(such as it is) I don't think Owen was ever made,
even as a prototype, in the old line.

You learn something new everyday.
I just learned that myself . I always figured those were blacked out, because the figures weren't past prototype stage or because of being sneak previews. I checked the info on Chirpa at RebelScum.
Your remark about Anakin/Owen makes sense though.

There was an Owen and Beru figure planned buy never made it to the final stages. It possible that was a mock up of the card. If it was going for a whole lot of money (hundreds or thousands) I'd say it wasn't fan made.

No it wasn't Anakin, this must of been a mock up early card and may of been only 1 of a very, very small number made. It was going for a few hundred pounds so it can't of been fan made.
