I got the red AOTC captain Clone Trooper and the Coruscant Loading Platform Commander the other night at Wal-Mart. It was nice finding them... especially the Commander since my sister's chihuahua mauled the one I had from the Evolutions set to death.

Can anyone tell me what to look for between the tank gunner mold and SA 501st troopers?

If it is the AT-TE Tank Gunner sculpt, you will see a chin underneath the helmet. If it the SA sculpt, you will only see the ball joint. Also, another good way to spot the SA sculpt is to look for the black antenna coming off of his back. (see the Saga Legends Shock Trooper for an example of that)

Oh yes, there is a huge difference.
The AT-TE sculpt has several frustrating features (so frustrating in fact, that I won't buy them). First of all, the helmet is never painted well. On the legends 501st, the black stripe isn't even painted in the groove where it should be. The black stripe is usually painted such that it is right up against the top side of the eyes (horrible!).
Also, the SA sculpt has ball-jointed elbows, whereas the AT-TE sculpt has swivel elbows. You can't bend them up and down, so they are more difficult to pose when you want to display them. I am a big proponent of SA sculpt clones. All other sculpts are sub-standard and should be discontinued.
There are other issues that I just can't think of right now (I got rid of all of my open AT-TE sculpts a long time ago), but those are the two main things to be aware of.

I wish Hasbro would get their crap together and release a super articulated version of him so I could replace the current version!

Does anyone find it strange that Hasbro claims the 501st Legion Trooper made from the AT-TE Tank Gunner sculpt was an error that would be corrected in mid-production but yet we still haven't even seen a picture of the corrected SA sculpt? Personally I think they have lied to us. I don't believe they ever intended to release the SA sculpt. I think they just said that to make people believe that the AT-TE sculpt would become a "rare variant," so they could sell more of them.
If the SA sculpt 501st is a real product, WHERE IS IT?????

Found the [Coruscant] Clone Commander yesterday from the latest SL line, so I picked him up. I'm about done picking up the regular clones with varying paint jobs (I think...), but I'm still short on Commanders.

Well, it appears the SA 501st Legion Clone is not a myth after all because rebelscum has posted a picture of him. That said, he does not have his antennae anymore. Now I know that there are some people who didn't like the antennae and won't miss it, but I am of the mindset that if Hasbro is not going to include the antennae with the figure than they should atleast fill in the stupid hole for it on the back of the figure! I bought 9 of those ARC-170 Elite Squad Target Exclusive Battle Packs this past weekend, and to my great disappointment the clone troopers in there do not have their antennaes either (but yet they still have the hole for it). To me, this cheapens the figure. Does this bother anybody else??

I found a Gree today at Wal-Mart. He's an amazing figure. The new articulation is great, and he can be into so many more realistic poses than the #41 sculpt. I wouldn't mind seeing a shocktrooper and 501st trooper with this mold, and from what I've read on Rebelscum it sounds like we're gonna be getting them eventually.
No sign of the Kashyyyk trooper anywhere though.
