Just a heads-up for the UK folks (and those in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa) that
DeAgostini have a new partwork magazine. I got issues 1 and 2 today. Each comes with a free figurine which is approx. 2 inches tall and handpainted. UK/Ireland folks can go here for more information and to subscribe. If you are in the other listed countries and curious PM me and I will let you have the contact information.
Issue 1 came with a Darth Vader figure, and Han Solo comes with issue 2. Promised for issue 3 are Yoda and a Stormtrooper. The figures look pretty nice in the packaging. They are fixed-pose and are similar in concept to the Miniatures, but larger. So far the content of the magazines is all OT, plus each issue has a behind-the-scenes look at some aspect of Star Wars and a page on the making of the included figure. I also received a RoTS poster as a subscriber.
Unfortunately it looks like the US loses out on these, as was the case with the Fact Files. From what I have seen on rebelscum these are available in Italy and France as well.

I'm frequently baffled by the things that make it to other countries and aren't released in the US. Sure, I know you can't sell everything everywhere, but I don't understand why certain cool things are given such limited distribution...

C-3PO: Master Luke, sir. Pardon me for asking, but what should R2 and I do if we're discovered here? Luke: Lock the door. Han Solo: And hope they don't have blasters. C-3PO: That isn't very reassuring. Darth Vader: Today will be a day long remembered.

Well the thing is its the same with the star wars toy lines though there is alot of things I would have liked but we got left out in the dry especially all the rots exclusives that are in the states this time round so it is nice that we have a little something for us over here and the rest of europe.

I picked up the Vader issue from Smiths on the way home and I have to admit that the figure is pretty good value for £1.99 (issue 1 price) The retail figures must be in a different order from the subscription figures though because the advertised figure for issue 2 is Luke Skywalker not the Han Solo, LAJ got!

I have no idea why they don't continue their Fact Files series and just finish off Episode 3. I wish they would

My issue #1 had Luke in the preview as well, JED1. However the issue that came as #2 was a Han issue. Maybe they had production issues on the Luke. Issue #3 is billed as a Yoda issue, with Yoda and Stormtrooper figures.
And I wish they had left Fact Files going through RoTS at least!

I really don't like the magazine at all, it contains quite a few glaring errors (Senator Palpatine rescuing Anakin, naming the Probe Droid a Spy Droid) they obviously need to do more research before they publish the thing Stuff like that will really put me off subscribing!

Yeah, the Spy Droid was a glaring error. I didn't catch the Palpatine error though. (Was reading while watching the Simpsons).

i got this yesterday. have to agree about the errors in it. bit disappointing tbh. and i am quite underwhelmed with the quality of the figurine. at least it was ok till Lady_Wiz dropped the damn thing and chipped the paint off the saber.

Oops...
I was in my local WH Smiths and they didn't have it on display yet. However they were still unpacking magazine delivery boxes so they might not have gotten to it yet.
I am wondering if some of the errors might be due to translation from a foreign language to English. These have already been out elsewhere in Europe (I know of Italy and France at least). And the credits page of the magazines have a reference to a Translation Copyright. If that is the case then they should have had someone more familiar with Star Wars proofread the magazine! (Like me.. )

They come out every fortnight at retail, so it will be about 2 weeks until you see #2. If you subscribe you get 2 a month, so I should get #3 and #4 around the time #3 appears at retail.

LAJ_FETT, good to see you discussing another DeAgostini series. Hopefully this one sticks around longer than Battle Games...
I have a question about the second issue. I've noticed two different items being identified as #2. One of them is shown on this ebay auction, with a Luke figurine. It matches with the info mentioned on the back of issue 1. However, I also saw this other page with a Han Solo figuirine. Both appear to be from UK sellers.
Do you (or anyone else reading) have an explanation for this?

I have been involved in a discussion on this over on Rebelscum. I get my issues by subscription and at the end of September I got the first two - Vader and Han. The Han issue was listed as #2 on the cover and came with a Han figure. However, the back of the Vader issue had Luke as #2. Somebody also posted that the #2 they found at retail was Luke. I don't know what the story is, but I am waiting to see what comes this month before complaining to DeAgostini.

Both issues seemed to agree that Yoda and the Stormie will be #3. I am waiting to see what I get as #4 before I complain.
