I forgot to put Firefly on her list, but I'm going back tomorrow. How is he? So far I'm impressed with the figures I have. There are some design flaws, but overall they're sturdier than I expected and they capture the look of the characters pretty well. I do wish they'd just glued down the Cobra helmets though, because it's always falling off and the skinhead look just isn't cool.

He's pretty neat. My only problem with him (and the other figures) is that he's a little skinnier than I'd like. Other than that no complaints.

The toy Gods have smiled upon me grin . I stopped by a different Super Wal-Mart than I normally grocery shop at and hit the mother load. They had Zartan, Storm Shadow V.2, Snake Eyes V.2, Shipwreck, Cobra Officer & the Red Ninja (They had Firefly too).

The only downer was that they only had one Red Ninja and he had bad paint on his foot/shin.

I picked up Firefly and Stalker...or "Sgt. Stalker" at Wal-Mart tonight while I was on my weekly comic run. They still had a lot to figures. I was tempted to stock up on Cobra officers. If they're still there this weekend I'll pick up a couple. My only complaint with them is the helmet--might as well glue the thing down.

doh! I forgot to list Stalker. Actually he’s probably my favorite out of all of them except for maybe Snake Eyes.

So far I haven’t opened mine up and I’m not sure if I’m going to wait and buy a few doubles or just open the ones I have. I guess having a removable helmet for the Cobra Officer would be a neat idea if A.) The helmet fit and B.) They'd give the guy some hair!

I've opened all of mine, and I highly recommend it. They're much sturdier than I expected.

I'm still not buying the first wave of collector sets. They just don't look that good to me. But I am seriously considering going back and getting the Cobra legions set. I was trying to cut back on spending, but what the heck!

Yeah I think I'm going to open them... eventually tongue .

Unfortunately I never even saw the collector's sets on the shelves. I would've bought them for the boxes if nothing else. They play the G.I. Joe tune!

I used to collect Transformers toys. I love Transformers.

I have two Optimus Primes, a Megatron, Hotshot, Smokescreen, Bumblebee, and various minicons from the Armada series. In hindsight, it wasn't nearly as good a series as the original show, but it was decent.

I collected the 6" Lord of the Rings figures from ToyBiz, until they stopped producing them at the end of 2006.
IIRC I amassed just over 60 separate figures, all different characters, no duplicates. That included creatures too like the Fell Beast and the Mouth of Sauron's Steed. Almost got a full collection, in my mind, but haven't managed to get Celeborn, Wormtongue or an Easterling yet.

I also collect the works of Tolkien. I've got LotR (books and Extended Edition DVD's), The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and The Book of Lost Tales 1 and 2 (though I haven't gotten around to reading them yet). I also have small figurines of Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Saruman. I have Battle for Middle Earth I and II as well.

Tolkien definitely rules. No doubt about it.

In other topics, the new G.I. Joes continue to impress me. They are way, way more sturdy than I expected. My 3 year old has been playing with some of them and they hold up well (minus the accessories.) I wish all the recent SW figures were this playable.

I collected the Toy biz LOTR line too. I have about 50 carded solo figures, 5 or 6 2-packs and 7 or 8 horse and rider sets. I have some deluxe multi packs and the Suaron figure too. It's a really well done line.

I managed to pick up one of the G.I. Joe “5-packs” tonight (Good guy version w/ Duke, Snake eyes V.1, Scarlet, Roadblock & Gung Ho). It’s pretty neat up close. The figures look really good and the box is awesome. It plays a short, muffled clip of the G.I. Joe theme when you press a button (star) which is cool about the first three times you play it [razz]. I’m guessing the Cobra version will be tougher to find.

The five packs seem pretty hit-and-miss to me. I'll probably get them eventually. The Joe one is easy to find around here, but the Cobras are less so. I'll probably pick them up soon just to be sure to get Destro.

Did you notice that Gung-Ho, the big bad Marine, has an anchor on his hat? Plus he looks more like Sgt. Slaughter in the face.

So far I think Zartan is the best in terms of capturing the spirit of the character, durability, and overall looks. There are a lot of good ones in the recent waves, but he really stands out to me.

laugh You're right about Gung-Ho (I'm going to avoid the Village People joke tongue ). I do like Duke & Snake Eyes a lot, though. So far I'd say that the Snake Eyes V.1 is my fave.

I like Zartan a lot too except for the card art. I don't know where they got that from, since I don't think Zartan was ever available on a single card, but it looks a little dodgy to me. I like the rest of him though. They even nailed the extra mask that he comes with perfectly.

EDIT - I think they got Zartan's card art from his file card picture. I'd have preferred they use the pic from the Swamp skier box.
