Now that you mention it, I have no idea where Zartan's card art came from. It's not his original filecard, I know because I've got one. It's not the promo picture that's on the Funskool card. Maybe someone else knows. I'll do some reading.

But these are so much better open that I'm completely ignoring the card art. Come on, you know you want to rip them all open and pose them on your desk. Or maybe slip them into some of those vintage vehicles you've got sitting around. Go ahead, open them up. wink

You’re right it’s not from his file card. I know I’ve seen it before though. He looks like he’s doing Riverdance or something.

You know, the more I think about it the more I like the idea of leaving them carded... tongue .

Happy Halloween pumpkin

I managed to find a second Cobra officer over the weekend, so I snagged it. I'm not that much of an army builder, but I wouldn't mind having a few Cobra troops. Hopefully Hasbro will make them as plentiful as Clone troopers in the coming months.

The airborne trooper from the Cobra legions pack is pretty rad. (rad is an archaic 80's term in case you kids out there don't know) He's got a jetpack from the vintage mold, complete with blaster. He's also got the gas mask helmet from the recent comic pack, but it's removable and he comes with a standard helmet. Overall it's a very versatile figure. I hear that the Pit of Carkoon Boba Fett's flames fit on his jetpack, but I lost mine in my daughter's toybox so I haven't tried it.

Just add the suffix 'izzle' and the kids will get it; "The airborne trooper from the Cobra legions pack is pretty
radizzle.

@ $5.00 a pop it's easy to army build with the 25th anny Joes if you can find enough of them. I thought I read somewhere that Hasbro was going to release some sort of multi-pack or battle pack with Cobra soldiers sometime. That would be cool...izzle.

Totally struck out on G.I. Joes tonight. I've read reports of wave 2 making a return to stores, but the pegs were nearly empty at all my local establishments. Only a couple leftover Storm Shadows and a couple Snake Eyes.

Wal-Mart seems to be stocking up on Transformers, if anyone is interested.

Also, Batman fans should check their local Big Lots stores for lots of animated series style figures and a few larger figures.

Big Lots also has a lot of World Peacekeepers military figures and vehicles that are way cool and compatible with G.I. Joe.

IIRC I amassed just over 60 separate figures, all different characters, no duplicates. That included creatures too like the Fell Beast and the Mouth of Sauron's Steed. Almost got a full collection, in my mind, but haven't managed to get Celeborn, Wormtongue or an Easterling yet.

Cool, I've got a lot of the Toybiz LOTR's stuff as well. They were a great line. Wormtoungue and the Easterling were released for TT line with the rounded packaging and I don't think they were ever released again past that point. The Easterling goes for quite the price on ebay. Celeborn only had one release in a 5 pack but around where I am the 5 pack is only going for around $40. Did you get the Balrog?

No unfortunately. Never got round to buying it (and making space in my room for it). It was always a bit too pricey for my liking wherever I looked for it. Albeit it would have made a great addition my collection, I probably wouldn't have had space for it lol.

Anyone here bought the balrog?

I have the Easterling and Wormtongue in the in the TT “Half-moon” boxes too. I remember the Easterling being tough to find when it came out. I maybe saw one other than the one I bought.

Most of my figures are in the “Half-moon” boxes. I like the original packaging more than the flimsy cards they switched to late in the ROTK run.

I don’t think I ever saw the Balrog in stores unfortunately. I think I remember seeing the “Fell beast” (Sp?) but I had stopped collecting LOTR by then and didn’t get it. I did get Sauron & Treebeard though.

Army builders drove up that Easterling price real fast, and I agree that the initial round LOTR packaging was way nicer than the later releases. I think the Balrog was only made available to specialty shops and didn't see a mass retail release, but I could be wrong. I've only ever seen it in comic shops and at conventions.

Ahhh, okay. I didn’t think I’d ever seen one @ retail. That was a really great line and lots of fun to collect until the distribution got wonky as it transitioned from the ROTK line into the ‘Trilogy line’.

Stopped by Wal-Mart near work on the way home and found another ‘Storm Shadow’ V.2 to open [card was bent in half].

Don't know if anyone caught this on the TFN headlines, but they're making an 'Indiana Jones cereal'! I, for one, can't wait.

Indy cereal

It's definitely Indy circa Raiders and maybe even with a little Botox tongue . I dig it... with a spoon!

I saw that, and when it comes out I'll be all over it. Indy cereal 3 meals a day.

Tonight was good for me. I found Cobra troopers, Buzzer, Beach Head, and Lady Jaye from the G.I. Joe line at Wal-Mart and Target. If you need any of these, check those places out.

They haven't been much easier to find here in the States tongue . I've started to have more luck finding them the last month or so.

I so hope there's a commercial "Indiana Jones is part of this complete breakfast! And look for specially marked boxes to get your free Wacky-Wall-Walker!"

Buzzer was always my favorite Dreadnock so I'm looking forward to picking him up.

G.I.Joe fans should hit their local Wal-Marts and Targets as soon as possible. I was at two WM's and one Target tonight, and they all had two pegs full of figures. Finally got a Flint! I passed on Serpentor--I've never been a fan, and the figure doesn't look right to me anyway. Grab Flint fast. It looks like he sells first--I only saw two of him.

Maybe Hasbro is finally getting their act together and sending these to stores.
