Anyone want to discuss their vintage SW collection?

What do you have? Where did you purchase? Favorite items? What are you looking for next?

Ooh, you're bound to get some replies here mischief ! I have all the basic figures, Max Rebo Band included. Still have to organize the whole bunch, though. A couple of months ago I sold all of my vintage vehicles and all but one mini-rig. I hadn't put them up for display for ages and they weren't in the best of shapes, so I decided to part with them.

I took me some time on eBay to complete my loose figures in fine and complete condition. I don't care much for the C-gradings and not at all for the AFA-gradings.

The Last 17 were complete some time ago, by acquiring Yak Face, a figure I sold for a measly $10 in the late 80s. Already explained that humungus blunder in the appropriate thread then tongue .

All in all, most of my figures are still from when I was a kid. I played with them a lot, sure. But I didn't bang them up against each other or against door posts etc. I took care of them. Had them neatly placed in my Darth Vader figure case, and the others neatly stacked in a big box.

I have a focus with vintage figures, two actually. First, the Emperor's Royal Guard. I have eleven of them now, all with their Force pikes. Only two pikes are original, the rest are repros, with which I don't have any problem at all. Force pikes, vibroblades, Ewok spears would break easily and the small blasters would get lost just as quick.

Here's a pick of His Evilness with his crimson guards:

Then I also have a lot of Snowtroopers. I originally owned two of those awesome figures, but their skirts (yes, skirts, didn't know what kamas were back then wink ) broke at the holes. Thanks to eBay, I was able to get them back and in greater numbers! Here are eleven of them in the snow. This pic was taken in late November 2005, when we had a sudden snow storm!

Some of these have repro skirts, again something I don't find disturbing.

My favourite figure has to be the Emperor's Royal Guard. It's one of the best figures, even including the modern lines. That's just my opinion, though.

I am also very proud of the few Death Star Gunners, Lando Generals, Lukes in ST disguise and Amanaman I have. Amanaman is around 20 years old now and still as fresh and crisp as when I freed him out of his bubble. Not very difficult, because all he did was just stand around happy .

I only need to 'replace' one figure, and that's R2-D2 with pop-up lightsaber. Mine has quite a worn sticker and I'd like to have one with a better sticker. Strangely enough, I don't like astromechs with repro stickers, so this one has to have an original sticker with minor or no wear.

Some people are willing to pay huge amounts for blue Snaggletooths, vinyl caped Jawas and double telescoped lightsaber wielding Luke Skywalkers. Not me, I just want to have a complete set, not specifically with all the variations.

I accidentally have the short mouth Biker Scout and the long visor Snowtrooper. Plus some other minor variations, but not intentionally.

Well, that's my tale of the vintage side for ya. How about you?

Great pic of those Snow troopers Incom!

Well, I can't top that but 2007, the 30th anniversary, will be the year of the vintage toys for me. I love the vintage figures and ships, but I'm an eclectic vintage collector... I love the role play weapons, the lunchboxes, the fast food premiums and bubble gum cards... Anything that came out around the time of the OT.

Last year I really made strides with the role play weapons... I picked up the vintage yellow "The Force" lightsaber, the SW & ROTJ versions of the toy blaster and the "Biker scout" pistol. I already had the SW Stormtrooper rifle. This year I'd like to get the ESB version of the pistol & the rifle as well as the Green and Red lightsaber... Plus make a dent in my vintage figure collection, which at present stands at 25.

My vintage line includes most of the main characters. Minus Chewie and Leia. I do have her in Hoth gear though. Oh yea, Blue snaggle tooth dancing his feet are kinda sticky though. My kids play with my vintage falcon atleast once a week. I also have the vintage skiff, it's missing the little guard rails on the sides. sad

My R2D2 cookie jar rocks. It is dated 1977 and says 20th century fox on the bottom.

I have maybe only a few loose vintage figures.

Luke Skywalker (Tatooine look)
Darth Vader
Han Solo
Chewbacca
Luke Hoth Gear
Luke X-wing Pilot
Luke Bespin Fatigues
Luke Jedi Knight
Rebel Soldier Hoth Gear
Rebel Commander
Powerdroid
Hammerhead
Snaggletooth
Stormtrooper
Imperial Guard

The plan is to go back and collect only those I owned, and foolishly sold as a kid. They're all on display inside a small wooden box with a glass cover I picked up at IKEA with three small copies of the vintage posters behind them. I'm on the lookout for a Yoda with Orange snake in loose, but good condition, but I can't seem to find one for less than $20. Because of this, it's been maybe two years since I bought a vintage figure.

/\ How much is he going for now-a-days? I have him with his orange snake. I believe he still has his "gimmer stick" as well. It's just kinda neat to go through them and remember the old days. Good Times! sad

I only have one vintage figure - a loose Boba Fett that was bought for me on Ebay as a gift. I've never really felt the urge to collect the vintage figures.

    Nice snowtroopers, Incom!

This photo is the rare stuff cause you have a power of the force tatooine skiff which has all the pieces in their bags along with the instuctions and inserts. You have sitting on top the double telescopic luke. Behind that you have a sealed unpunched sy snootles and the rebo band even with a white bubble. Next to that is princess leia on a first issue rotj card which is very rare especially since the one I have has a quailty control sticker on it so this one never left the kenner factory, and just in front of her is also leia but its non sonic welded and comes from the uk factory.
    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/skywalker_1982/000_0128.jpg?t=1165548840
In the middle is another rare piece which is the sonic controlled landspeeder which was a store exclusive, when I bought this it was complete but did not work so my friend restored it and now it does, pretty cool toy but is ever so loud.
    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/skywalker_1982/000_0129.jpg
Another rare toy, well it is for the US cause it was never released but it is the palitoy death star playset made of cardboard, has got all the pieces inside apart from the instructions which I am still trying to track down, the catalogue it came with cost me $60 alone and believe it or not I do get it out set it up and play it

Last shelf I am showing is jabba in its box with everything inside still sealed. Sitting in front is the emperor in a baggie which was a mail away figure that you had to send 5 pop off the back of rotj cards to recieve it.
Next to him is a fireman ewok test shot figure which of course is unpainted and comes from the kenner factory.

I think all people reading this thread should not think twice and go up into their lofts or parents lofts and dig out all their vintage stuff. Whatever you have it does not deserve to be rejected sitting up in a dark cold place. grin

Or a dark warm place... My model kits became unglued due to the heat under the roof worried .

No worries, my figures were never exposed to those kind of temps.

What I admire in Ben's collection is his focus on RotJ carded figs. You have to be patient to complete such a focus.

You have to be really patient like a cheetah in africa sitting in a bush waiting for its prey.
I still need around 24 more to finish the run from which after I plan on doing a princess leia focus meaning all the carded figure combinations along with all the foreign cards and proof cards

Vintage collecting is definitely what got me started, except when I started it wasn't vintage. Fortunately I still have everything from my childhood, but ebay has been great for filling in the holes. All I really want now are some of the last 17 figures and a couple vehicles t

    Great collection skywalker_1982!!!

I'll probably be posting some pics and descriptions of some of my vintage items tommorrow. A couple of my highlights include a B-Wing, Tie Interceptor, and Tattooine Skiff that came from Leonardo Dicaprio's personal SW collection.
