Displaying them in zip bags would be kinda silly. A large case like a Billy (with, for example, glass doors and the cd dividers) would make for an excellent display of the vintage figures
Great idea, my wife loves Ikea, but it's not in our area until
we move. I have one display that i received from Gateway when they
closed their stores. It comes with sliding glass doors and a key to
lock at the top of the glass door. I would like to display my vintage figs ,but keep them safe from getting old as well if possible. That is why i came up with replaceing my new figs with olds ones by putting vintage figs inside the carded bubble, then hang them up!!
As far as displaying them in action scenes, i wanted to just take turns taking them out of their plastic baggies (Not used sandwich baggies skywalker_82!!) new baggies, and then take them out when you want to display them in an action scene for a few weeks and then back they go.
As far a vintage ships go, i would like more, all i have now is transport
thoughts...

I think he meant any sandwich baggies, new or used. If you put them in a sealed bag, they can mold or deteriorate easier because it is airtight. As temperatures change moisture can develop inside the bag, and the gases released by the plastic also build up. The simple solution is to punch a small hole or two in the baggie to allow airflow. Otherwise, plastic boxes work better because they don't seal up tight.

This should interest any vintage collectors going to Celebration Europe. It's all for charity as well!

Well, I'll post a few pics of some of my favorite pieces from my personal collection. I also have a complete set of loose figures and a ton of other vintage Star Wars stuff.
Oh' for the record I just couldn't resist showing off my Slave Leia shrine. I know that the 16' x 20' Carrie Fisher autograph and the Slave Leia statues are not vintage, but I love them! Everything else in my collection is old-school (1977-1985)

Yes, he has all his original weapons and grenades. It's a shame that the box isn't sealed and is missing the insert. I'm still very fortunate to have him though. You never see him complete and in the box.
It's very cool to hear your about to start a Princess Leia run. I'm absolutely obsessed with her! I plan on doing a complete run on her as well. I want everything to be AFA 80 or higher, so it will probably take years to complete.

Have you considered in making your own insert with the right orange colour??
I am kind of anti afa myself as I think it over inflates the price of its worth and I always promise myself if I bought such a piece would smash the casing open. Good luck in hunting down leia at afa 80 higher on the various combinations as really you take ebay in consideration would get pretty expensive.

Oh' no, I could never bring myself to make my own insert or anything else for that matter. I absolutely despise reproductions and customs. Things like that are a disgrace to the hobby in my opinion. Recards, reseals, and reproductions are what's nearly ruined the hobby as we know it. That is one reason why I'm so appreciative of AFA graded items. Your going to pay in the thousands for certain pieces, but at least you know exactly what your getting. It's 100 percent authentic and the real deal. Not tampered with in any fashion or form. Items are documented in the archives like museum pieces, plus everything is protected for life in the acrylic cases. I will never buy anything else Vintage, unless it is AFA graded.

Well I am not against reproduction and custom items if its for my own benefit and not odviously trying to rip others off like making out a recard is authentic, only times I have bought repro and custom items have been if they are particular items like the rocket firing fett or any other unproduced figures that I know I would never get the real first shot versions.
I know there are some fakes out there with sellers trying to fool people but really to me thats where you have to do your homework.

Well i guess it doesn't bother to keep them in baggies all the time, might as well display them with all the rest of my figs.
I will still keep in baggies, but not seal as tight.
thanks for your help.

I recently acquired a carded ROTJ Paploo figure, and he is the second ROTJ carded action figure I have that has a pin-sized hole punched in the back of the card. Anybody know the story behind this?

A seriously impressive Vintage collection you have there Ben. I'm visiting my Uncle tomorrow (for work purposes) and I'll take some photos of his vintage collection too. You can compare notes, lol.
Great stuff, I love vintage items

For Christmas about 2 or 3 years ago my aunt, uncle, and grandpa gave me ALL their vintage Star Wars stuff.I got about 45 loose vintage figures, the death star playset, darth vaders tie fighter and about 15 of just the card backs themselves. Also, my grandpa gave me his collection of Star Wars cards from the 70s and 80s.its a near complete set that I think could be worth hundreds.

I collect a little of everything, but the vintage stuff drew me in in 1990. Hasn't let go yet, but the fever has cooled.

My mother-in-law gave me about 30 vintage figures - the ones that fit in the Vader head. She also gave me the vintage Vader head. And the 12" figures of Vader and Chewie. It's no wonder I love her.
