Movie Poster Advice Needed
|
I had a friend recently pass onto me a bunch of assorted teaser and actual movie posters. Can anyone tell me how I can figure out if the posters are the ones that were given to theaters, are ones given out as promotional ones, mass produced ones people were able to purchase or something else cause my friend cannot recall plus I would like to know so I can take proper precautions.

You could start by checking out the TFN SW Poster database. It hasn't been updated in awhile so there isn't anything for RoTS. However, if all of your posters are older than that it might help.

Thanxs I am not just talking Star Wars posters but posters for other movies as well. But the posters I do have are the 4 Special Edition posters.

Don't quote me on this since I'm not a big poster collector, but aren't most of the posters that theaters display doublesided? I have three actual "movie display" posters and all are doublesided. Two from the 07 Transformers movie and one from ROTS

Maybe for recent posters. I have an ANH original from 1977 and it isn't doublesided. (Got it at a local cinema - I knew the projectionist).

The earliest I know of theaters using the double-sided posters is the early 90's. It's a pretty safe bet they were using them before that, but that's the earliest I can remember noticing it.
So if it's a recent poster, check the back!

I heard that not all posters even the newer ones all necessarily double sided I have been told on other boards when studios sent out posters display purposes it all depends on where they posters are displayed but thanxs everybody for replies and such.
