    Rebelscum Story

Our Rebel Spies are hard at work again and they've uncovered another juicy rumor list for everyone's reading pleasure. As always, keep in mind this is a rumor list, and not an official confirmation. More details, if there are any, will be announced at a later date. But for now, let the speculation begin!

Hit the link for the full story and list. Looks like a mix of film and EU figures (no details on those, nor are there any pics yet).

Cool! I'm always up for more of these!

I especially can't wait to see what they'll do with that Jawa (that is, if this turns out to be true).

What caught my interest the most in that is the vauge "couple of EU figure" reference.

It sounds like there's some miscommunication with these. They mention them as 'Vintage' figures when there's little chance we'll be getting any of those VOTC/VTSC style figures again anytime soon. Also, why would EU and PT figures be part of a 'Vintage' line?

I tend to agree. The last two waves of VTSC style figures had their share of peg warmers [one local Wal-Mart still has 15 or more on a b-line that they refuse to mark down]. Still I eon't complain. I love the VOTC/VTSC line.

I don't collect PT stuff anymore, but I've always thought that putting PT figures on vintage, Kenner-like cards would be pretty cool. I was kind of hoping that the entire 'ROTS' line would be on Kenneresque cards. That way 'ROTS' could serve as a bridge between not only the two movie trilogies, but also the two toy lines.

That would have been a great idea, especially if they would have been just on the card with the bubble and no plastic shell case. Just like the GI Joes this year. Hasbro could have spent less money on the packaging and maybe given us better prices at retail.

I mean, think about it, they could actually spend less money on packaging to help make up for some of their increased distribution costs. That way the consumer isn't getting raped twice (first at the pump, and then at the store).

I hear ya! That would have been a smart move since
the ones I've seen just sat on the shelves waiting for
    the discount stickers.
I did manage to get VOTC snowtrooper.

Shifting gears. Has anybody seen the photos on Rebelscum of the new Saga Legends figures?

Ugh! What a horrible selection of figures for the first wave. I posted what I think would be a list of figures for this line that people would actually buy on one of the boards over there, and I'll post it here for commentary as well.

This is what I think would make an excellent Saga Legends line with minimal to no peg warmers (in no particular order):

    1. Commander Neyo
    2. Covert Ops Clone Trooper
    3. Shadow Stormtrooper
    4. Utapau Shadow Trooper
    5. Darktrooper
    6. Space Trooper
    7. Darth Revan
    8. Darth Malak
    9. Tsui Choi
    10. Padme (Ep 1 Celebration - POTC 2005)
    11. Wat Tambor
    12. Coleman Trebor
    13. Durge (Clone Wars 2003)
    14. Ephant Mon
    15. Commander Bly (Brown Stripe)
    16. VTAC Snowtrooper
    17. VOTC Chewbacca
    18. Jawa w/ Liin Droid
    19. Pablo Jill
    20. Sio Bibble
    21. Zutton (Blue Snaggletooth)
    22. R2-Q5
    23. Graxol Kelvyyn (Watto's Box)
    24. Wedge Antilles
    25. R3-A2
    26. Ishi Tib
    27. Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars 2003)
    28. Clone Trooper Officer (all four color variants, perhaps with battle damage this time around)
    29. R4-M9
    30. K-3PO

Like I said, not a lot of peg warmers listed there in my opinion. And these are the ones that most people are screaming for on the websites and various message boards that I frequent.

Funny how Hasbro always claims that each line needs to have core characters to make them interesting to consumers, and yet most of those core characters become peg warmers. How many of these non-core characters do you think would warm the pegs. Not many (if any), me thinks.

I believe Hasbro's reasoning for making those figures part of Wave 1 is because most (if not all of them) will be appearing in the Clone Wars animated movie/series.

Yeah, I know they said that. I'm just not sure if I buy it. I think they just had a surplus of these on the manufacturing floor and so they are trying to resell them to get rid of them. Just my opinion though, take it for what it's worth.

I actually ran into a Hasbro rep at Wal-Mart the other night and he said we could expect a lot of repaints and repacks this year because of rising oil prices.

Ya gotta love greedy oil barons! angry

At the new higher price-point of course. angry

If that's the case then Hasbro can expect alot of peg warmers.

Just a normal-looking dude with street clothes. He was shopping at the time, not working. A very nice guy. I enjoyed talking with him.

If we had that job (Hasbro rep), there would be
    nothing left on the shelves.
We'd sample every figure to our collection!!
