I recall the TPM lines of figures to be fairly good quality.

I actually just bought a TPM figure (Ki-Adi) and I was also surprised how good it was for a $5 figure. Like all SW figures it's a little short of my tastes, but TPM figures were basically just better quality versions of POTF. I like.

Definitely, I never experienced opening one of the TPM figures and having his head fall of out of nowhere, like I did
when I bought TLC obi wan

Seems like you can't even sell a good collection for what its even worth. The last two conventions I went to, were selling potf/and potj card backs for two and three dollars..seems I remember buying them for eight to ten dollars a few years back...A friend of mine gave me about two hundred figures to try and sell at a local convention..even at half price 4.00 $ I only sold five of em....''begun the the great toy war has...''I have been collecting since 81...my question is this. Will my collection pay for my kids to go to colledge one day...or will my 13 thousand dollar collection just de-value in price as time goes on.maybe I should have collected startrek stuff.....

If you're collecting modern basic figures, probably not. There's too many being made and too many people with the same idea. There might be some exceptions for hard-to-find figures like Ephont Mon - I remember when everyone was looking for him. (I found one in a TRU here in the UK). However, if you are collecting limited-edition items like the Gentle Giant minibusts or Sideshow statues, you might get something for them depending on the character and how many were released.
If your collection is packaged vintage figures, then you might have a better chance. Check around eBay to see how recent auctions for the same item have done.

No too many people have bought into the send my kids to college or I'll be able to retire on my collection. thing is there is a reason why the vintage toys of the eighties & earlier are expensive & worth something they just werent kept like toys from the 90 and above they were played with & usualy discarded. I bet the are 1000+ moc 1995 lukes for every 1 moc vintage 12 back.

Man, that's depressing. I didn't pick up extra figures with the intent to flip them or anything - I got 2 of everything because I just wanted to collect. But that was years and years ago. Now I just want to clean out the damn closet - but to find out the things are worthless. Sheesh. . . . .

Anyone want some figures for free?

I do!! wink

Seriously though, I collected and have kept everything to do with the prequels (and I do mean EVERYTHING..I have 2 Jar Jar Binks childrens toothbrush holders doh! )..I ended up with so much stuff that I recently had to just throw away the truly craptacular items, no-one would've wanted the tat I had clogging up the cupboards. Only vintage or high-end modern collectibles are worth more than they originally cost.

On the plus side..it really is a buyers market at last.
