Besides the name is there much difference between the physical appearance of Lukes Ep. V blaster and Han's Ep. V blaster?

Taken from the mail from Master Replicas:

    Master Replicas posted:
No longer a callow youth, Luke Skywalker has risen through the ranks of the Rebel Alliance to Commander. In these dangerous times, Luke arms himself not only with his father's lightsaber, but also carries a Blas Tech DL-44 blaster. This weapon is favored not only by many Rebels, but the infamous smuggler and scoundrel, Han Solo, as well.

In Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker's Blas Tech DL-44 blaster was a real antique German 7.63mm semi-automatic pistol, unlike Han Solo's which had been made from a modern replica of the same firearm.

The front barrel was passed through a specially machined bright aluminum flash-suppressor which closely followed the look of Han Solo's DL-44 from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. A custom bracket was fitted to the right side of the gun with a single beveled knurled knob, which housed a M19 azimuth sight scope. On the left side of the gun, two plastic model kit parts provided additional surface detailing to complete Luke Skywalker's DL-44 blaster. Luke's weapon differed in many other subtle ways from the weapon carried by his compatriot, Han Solo, therefore was quite distinct in its own right.

The Luke Skywalker Episode V Blaster LE features:

    Machined aluminum and brass parts
    Die cast metal construction
    Injection molded plastic components
Museum quality display case with mirrored base and acrylic cover
Numbered Plaque and Certificate of Authenticity
Strictly limited to 1,500 units worldwide

    Hi Room,

as I am new to this here forum, I perhaps mistakenly posted this question in the general collecting forum and was advised to also try my luck here...

Can anyone tell me which parts/segments of the MR Kenobi LE weathered saber are not made of metal but of resin or other non-metal?

    Thanks a bunch..

    Paul.

I'm wondering, where did MR get the reputation for high accuracy?
I ask, because my wife bought a MR Captain Jack Sparrow saber. We compared it to another saber made by the prop company that made the actual props for the movie (long story about how we aquired that), and there are HUGE GLARING differences. THe MR guard is completely different in shape and size, the handle is different (no mark from wearing down after "years of use"), the blade is different (longer, straighter, wrong finish) and the pommel and fastener are shaped differently.

We have confirmed with the prop maker that the other sword we have is authentic.

Why would MR make such huge differences. Is it just to make it easier for someone to recognize MR Jack Sparrow sword vs. real ones? Why bother? The real ones have a maker's mark and signed blades.

Has this sort of thing come up with other MR products?

    Just wondering.

Hmm. I bought a Captain Jack Compass, and I compared it with photos of the real item, and it looked exactly the same.

I spoke to JD from TSV and he told me the following.

    1. Newer technology.
    2. Shorter grips.
    3. Deifferent placement of activation box.
    4. More accurate in size.

Can you call him back up and ask him if the red leds are any better? If the problem with the lack of a solid saber is fixed I might trade up.

that and the power up/down on the current model is slooooooow. I switched on my anakin ep3 and Vader and Anakin was up and off before Vader powered up.

That sounds like an isolated incident. Neither mine, or anyone else's Vader ESB that I've seen (assuming you're talking about the ESB and not the old ANH), has had slow power up issues. All the ones I've looked at turn on and off with the same speeds.

Yes I have the ESB one, I think, I dunno I bought it last year so.... Anyway other than the weak LED the power up is my biggest pet peeve.

Do you know the differences between the soon to be released Luke ANH and Anakin ROTS? If I have one do I need the other?

You definitely have the ESB, the Ep. IV Vader is still on pre-order. I agree that the slowess problem is situational. I payed with several ESB Vaders at Spencers and they power up as fast as any of the other sabers I own. Don't know about the Luke ANH, but i'm wondering the same thing you are. I really hope they release a Obi TPM and a Qui-Gon soon. JD also told me that there are plans for a Obi TPM FX later this year.

MR have put out a press release on upcoming 2007 items. You can check it out here on TFN.

The Slave I sounds nice but it will probably be too expensive!
