You got a perspective of it as presented from a specific set of eyes. That's why people take issue with users that haven't actually read the material commenting; you just end up regurgitating someone's views and not bringing a perspective that represents what you gleaned from the source for yourself. It's nice to see this conversation. There are many intelligent users who have splendidly detailed conversations about the books and comics in small circles at other sites but refuse to participate in the exact same discussions over in Lit, simply because the atmosphere is so off-putting. If I have one thing to contribute to this discussion it is that change will only come about if those at the top take it to heart and lead by example. It's promising to see colors from Lit in here discussing options. Still some of worst examples of posting in Lit have come from board VIPs. If that's not addressed, Lit will never change no matter how many ideas are thrown out here.
I posted this in this thread recently posted:And now it's time for Jedimarine's brutal truth of the month: The sooner we all learn that no one cares about this stuff as much as we do, the more comfortable we'll all be in the face of such unwieldy expenditures of timeline and slights of continuity. The people at LFL are not our friends...despite their pandering on TOS forums. And, bless their hearts, even some of the creative teams who do their very best to give us quality AND accuracy are going to run into obstacles where they'll have to choose between appeasing the vocal constructionist minority, and appealing to wider markets...I hate it, but I have to understand that. We are running headlong into a universe that is no longer going to be "and the next chapter is"... We are moving into "welcome to star wars...it's too big for you...too big for anyone...focus your search, and pick your path from the multiple choice."

J_K_DART posted:Jedimarine: I don't agree with that idea, tbt, because there's a place for oou discussion too - the problem is that it's gone too far, not that it's happening at all. There's a definite place for us, as readers, to review a book and say what we got out of it and what we were disappointed with; frankly, I suspect it's even of value on an industry-level, because it tells authors how their writing is received. Now, I do think a dedicated continuity thread is a good idea in part for the reasons you specify; because rather than being a 'panic' thread, it would be a sort of 'fixit' thread. I think it's possible to push this too far, tbt.
