RE: Harry Potter Cloaks/Costuming
Well, I couldn't stand it and I HAD to make the new quidditch uniforms for the opening of POA. Problem was, I had to make three robes in two weeks and my reference pics were next to none. I had the Japanese poster, a drawing that was on display with some toys and I saw the "offical" kids costume...those were my reference shots...so I made do.
My revisions of course will be to remove the number and star from the right side (it's just two stripes), cut out the v's in the sleeves and I'm not sure what to do about the pocket looking thing in the front of the robes. I may not be able to add it since my eyelets are securely in...if I try to remove them I might distroy the front panels. Ah well...I'll have to watch it again and see what exactly my opions are. I may have missed a few other small details but when they race through the quidditch stuff so fast, what can ya do?
And this week I'll also be fixing up my beater to make it look a ton better and the knee pads will be added, along with new gloves and weathering. Gotta get a sweater and striped socks sometime too. Yay!
So here's what I've got thus far...the first pic is me of course and the link below is a gallery of some pics. JediAgent put that together.

Great job! 100% accurate or not, those costumes look smashing.
I'll bet you were a hit at the opening!

Just got back from seeing HP3, and just wanted to say I LOVE the pinstripe suit/cloak that the Minister wears at the beginning. Very cute!

OMG DarthJurist! That was one of the first things I noticed too! I think my boyfriend was slightly confused when I started whispering: 'Italian Silk, pinstripes, the flow! It's beautiful!'

Nice robes, HothGirl.
I'm still working on my SS/CoS version Slytherin Quidditch costume. It's almost there - I have the sweater done and the robes are almost done (just need a hem). Do you (or anyone else in here) have any suggestions for the arm/shin pads and such? Yours look like they came out pretty well.
EDIT: As far as the sweater goes, I do have a pattern for it that worked pretty well if you're into knitting it yourself. There are also some places around that will sell them for pretty decent prices. The same goes for the socks as far as buying them.
I want to knit mine but I haven't found or modified a sock pattern for those yet...

Hey Mara-Jade-Skywalker! How ya doin?
I ended up doing alot of work on the quidditch pads for HothGirl so if ya drop me an email, I can forward some instructions off to ya. Also, I updated the gallery with a few new pictures including ones of the completed knee pads.

RE: Harry Potter Cloaks/Costuming
I finished my Gryffindor robes just in time for PoA
I have photos and information on my website
here
. I drafted my own skirt, and I have some progress pics on how I put the skirt together on my site. I had loads of fun making everything
My friend went in costume as well, as Madame Hooch, but we don't have many clear pics yet. It was her first project, and now I have her hooked on costuming
She's signed on to come along to see SW Ep 3 next year as a Jedi

Your costume looks great! That's neat that you made the skirt from scratch too. Nice work!

RE: Harry Potter Cloaks/Costuming
Awesome, awesome job! I especially love your skirt. You may have just inspired me to make one of my own-- I've got some leftover charcoal grey wool from a cloak I made a couple years ago, and I've been waiting for the right project for it.
A couple of questions for you-- first, you've only got pleats in the front. Are there reference images that show the back of the skirt? I ask because I had to wear box-pleated skirts in middle school, and we had two pleats in front and two in back. And second, am I right in seeing that your skirt has only a front and a back piece, and no side pieces?
Thanks much, and again, wonderful job!
