RE: Harry Potter Cloaks/Costuming
Thanks
iycis
, I had a lot of fun making everything. I decided to make my own skirt because I couldn't find anything that I was happy with to buy, so I thought I would give it a try and it worked out well
Thank you
JainaMSolo
. I based my skirt on what we know that we've seen. We haven't seen the back yet, so that's why I just left it plain for now. There's a scene in the film when the students are out with Buckbeak that I'm sure would give us a good view of the back of the skirt, if it wasn't so dark. When the dvd comes out I will be sure to look very closely at that scene. I plan to re-make the skirt again at some point, either just with a darker fabric, or with any extra pleats, depending on what we find out.
My skirt is a wrap style that overlaps at the front. The front is two pieces that are the same pattern size and shape. I have lots of photos of it on my site.
When we get more information on the skirts, I hope to update my site with a more detailed tutorial. If you have any suggestions on how I can make it easier to understand, feel free to let me know

Does anyone know if Hobby House is the only place online selling Quidditch sweaters? I haven't been able to find anything else in my searching.

On a somewhat related note: does anyone happen to know the brand or any info on the jacket Harry wears throughout most of POA? It's the black track jacket with the strips on the sleeves he wears while in casual clothes. I can find jackets kind of similar to that but I'm looking for the exact one if I can find it. Any help would be great.

Woohoo, I found robe fabric today! Not quite as stiff as I would have liked, and it has a slight stretch to it, but at $2/yd, I'm not going to complain. Now to find lining fabrics (black and blue, since I'll be a Ravenclaw).

marmakecam, you might try adidas, they have jackets that look almost exactly if not exactly like that one

I tried Adidas already, their's are close but they have three stripes down the sleeves rather than two like Harry's. Thanks though.

marmakecam,
My brother has a jacket from "Guess" in the same style as a gift, except it's in black. It has the two stripes and the white zipper. Maybe it comes in grey or they distressed it for the movie?

For any of you interested, BellaSabrina and I have started a yahoo group for Harry Potter costumers in the mid-atlantic/northeastern U.S. This is a group for getting people in this area together for conventions, the HP movie premiers, and possibly costume/prop workshops. Please check it out if you live in the region. Thanks!

If anyone is still looking for Harry's black track-style jacket from PoA, I saw one at my local Hot Topic. It had the 2 white bars on each sleeve, but had "Hogwarts" printed across the back and had the Hogwarts crest on the upper-left side.
Here's a link:

Would anyone happen to know what shade of blue to line a PoA style Ravenclaw robe in? I've heard everything from "match the sky blue on the badge" to "almost as dark as the robe itself." Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone has, or knows where to find, any ref picts of PoA style robes for either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, please let me know!
I've been looking and gathering ref picts for most of the main outfits...and some others... but these two have proven rather difficult to find.
On to my next question: I'm going to make Snape's coat and cloak for a friend of mine (with a few modifications to alter its periodness from mid 19th century to late Elizabethan). Has anyone else made this? If so, please PM me, I'd love to chat with you before starting!
Thank you for any help!
