My, u all had lots of fun! happy

For us, only the group of us "cosplayers" who dressed up in something that really looks like we belong to Hogwarts (I ended up as a Generic Professor who could also pass off as Snape or Draco in Dress Robe if I had the rite wigs laugh ). Kinokuniya did get some of its workers (and its manager too I heard) dress in a Halloween Cloaks and Witch hat while Borders workers were wearing witch hats. Other than that, nothing much it seems.

Heard W.H. Smith got its workers dressed up in HP Costumes but we didn't get to check it out cause we were tired after our 5th photoshoot location and Harry & Draco had put up the White Flag as we were *ehem* them off! grin

Perfect example, Jaina.. And that just reminded me. In that costume contest, some smart a_ _ dude came up with us, and said he was a muggle. It was hilarious, but unfair.. Because they made a new category for him (in which he was the only one..) and he got a prize. *twitch..* -- I really loved the little kids costumes, they were all so cute. There was this one little girl who dressed up as Dobby, she won for the 5-11 age group, but before the contest we'd bumped into she and her mother where I excitedly pointed out that my friend was Dobby's sister! Robin was, in fact, "Dibby (Dobby's Sister)." Running gag for the whole thing.

I would so love to do Quidditch robes, I'm not sure I'd care so much about making the pads.. Just the robes, their so vibrant. I'd have to find a Slytherin quidditch patch, though -- Unless of course I want to be the Ireland National Quidditch team - I could be Mullet. *giggle*

Oooh, I just remembered somethin' else! Everyone at the party totally oogled over my wand, and kept trying to buy it from me. I'm so proud. 9 1/2", Mahogany, Unicorn Blood. I think I might go into business, they were fun to make.

Try MadameMalkins ML. Jo (the one helping to get the patched done in the correct size and cutting) said in this Post that she got a few of it left.

Am waiting for the Hogwarts one to be ready (now still in the digitization stage).

Check out http://www.livejournal.com/community/hp_costuming or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MadameMalkins . People in both places have made them, and could give you help.

EDIT: Fixed the LJ link.

If anyone wants the email of the person who did my HP Cloak, just PM me. He's very good. Not sure about price, because mine was a gift from my boyfriend. But this cloak is on point and perfect.

Any other questions on HP Costumes, feel free to ask. I've got plenty of info to share.

Okie, they seem to work now. Weird. Does anyone know what the pattern is for the Quiddich robe? Also, is there a place on-line I could visit that would give instructions for sewing in the liner?

The patterns used for the School Robes can also be used for the Quidditch robes; the only difference is that the Quidditct robes have hood (while the school ones don't) and the sleeves are shorter (comes to about elbow when the arms is bent?).

Also, is there a place on-line I could visit that would give instructions for sewing in the liner?

Basically, u have to cut the same size as the rite side fabric (for the Quidditch Robes). If I'm not mistaken, there is sewing along the sides of the robe (a few mm away from where u had sew the rite side fabric and lining together on the wrong side).

For the school robe, if I'm not mistaken, the right side fabric runs into the inside of the robe so cutting and sewing the lining may be a little more tricky.

Wow, thanks Darth_Eagle. Also, probably a silly question, but how would I add the hood? I don't think it could all be one peice, there would have to be a seem running down the hood, wouldn't there?

I don't have really great reference pics, but where was the seem you were talking about? I know I'll have to cut the sleeves and everything out of one peice to avoid sleeve seems, but there has to be a seem running under the arm and down the side to connect the front and back pieces of the robe together, I just can't find it. Could be my reference pics though.

>Comicartist: I've got an idea about how I want to do the broom. I want to see how the costume comes out before I invest time in it. The back end should be no problem, just get some fake twigs or something from a craft store. For the handle I was going to take some EMT conduit (metal pipe) and bend it to match, then cover it in something like fiberglass to build it up and add little defects, primer it, and add wood varnish to give it that wood look.

I've got a seam in the top of my Quidditch robe's hood - hardly noticeable. happy The hood is pointed so it was pretty easy to add on.

Hey Hothgirl, do you have any pics? Also, I can't find the pattern used for the robe on the mailing list. Does anyone know it off the top of their head?

Also, doing a little more research (watching the movie in super slow-mo grin ) I noticed that there is a seem in the hood and around the sleeves (which outta make my life much more difficult!) and there is also a rectangle cut out of the bottom of the back so the robe can sit 'around' the broom when they are riding them.

Thanks happy

EDIT: Check out this awesome site for modifying the robe: HP Robe
