Hii all happy

Anyone know where to get one of the Hermione Granger Pink Hoodies that she wears in PoA? I've been looking for ages, and can't seem to figure out where they got it from. I heard something about copies being sold on eBay from Japan, but haven't been able to locate them. Any ideas? Or what about ones that look really similar?

Hi there. They do have them for sale on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Harry-Potter-Azkaban-Emma-Hermione-Parker_W0QQitemZ230125163788QQihZ013QQcategoryZ11077QQcmdZViewItem

They are rather expensive though. I just went to Khols' and found a pink hoodie there. It was like $20. For me it was a much better price than the one from Japan. I ended up getting another one though a bit later. The only thing is I need to get a pattern for the embroidery on the arm.

Second Hoodie:

I'm also trying to find her shoes. I know the brand but finding them is the problem.

Good luck!

Phew, for the most part my student robe is finished! I need to shorten the hem. I had to rush marking it, and decided to error on the side of too long knowing that I can always shorten it, but once it is cut too short I can never add length back!

I used McCalls 3663 as a base and I referred to DarthEagle and Starfirephoenix's tutorials to get a jump start... but I kept modifying things.

For starters, I ended up making the front panel of the robe narrower than the pattern called for. Basically, from the area where you'd have the button on downward at the center front I took it in at an angle. I think at the bottom it was easily a few inches inward from the original center front line. I STILL find my robe doesn't hang open enough in the front. I probably should have taken it in just a touch more.

Secondly, I believe I found evidence in some photos that the hood may actually be a separate piece from the rest of the robe. It isn't a seamless continuation of the front panel the way that the colored facing is. I think there is a diagonal seam that extends from the buttons up to inner neck edge of the shoulder seam. Making the opening of the hood at the front kind of like a shirt lapel.

I discovered the seam because as I was draping muslin after muslin, the only way I could get my hood to hang correctly over my shoulders and along the back was to make a dart or tuck in the fabric. I think it is because my hood is longer than Starfirephoenix's in the back and that threw off the drape of other parts of the hood.

My pattern is not perfect. I ran out of time to keep testing things. I can see what needs to be changed on my pattern to make the hood even more screen accurate - but I can't make those changes on the version that has already been cut and sewn. (I can see I should have taken in my dart tuck in the lapel area even more before drafting the angle of the hood piece. I also made the hood opening too large, so it droops too low in back. I was concerned about getting it over our heads, but now see I have more slack in that hood opening than was in the movie).

We will take better photos later

I can't remember if I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but I found matching colored robe lining to what was used in the movie. The new trading card costume swatches were a life saver! Look for Kona Cotton by kaufman, It comes in over 100 colors (most stores do not carry every single color). I can't remember the names of the matching colors, but the gryffindor color is actually a reddish-brown. Yes, it is much browner than the ties and what other fan made robes have been using. But I swear it matches the swatch card. Only a minor dye lot difference if anything.

From what I can tell, the robes in GOF and OOTP are the same in construction and materials. The lining colors are from the new OOTP costume cards. The close up of Cedric's robe is from GOF, and the close up of Ron is a studio head shot from OOTP. I based the length of the hood on back shots of Cedric from GOF as well as a side view of Draco from what I believe is a studio shot from GOF or POA (he looks younger like he did in POA).

I think I may have made David's hood 2-3 inches too long. I had to guess more on his hood length because I didn't have time to do multiple fittings on him.

That's a great find, Kay_dee! peace Ya, HP Costuming seems to be a whole discovering experience; I only discovered that the SS/CoS Robe body is done similar to the PoA/GoF/OotP one (as in the Robe is lined a few inches near the opening with the same material as the Right Side) earlier this year when I was doing research on it.

And your costumes look great! wink

This year I helped my girlfriend put together a harry potter Ravenclaw costume for Halloween. While not exactly movie accurate, its still pretty cool.

The thrown together HP costume can be fun! I wore a punk Potter "costume" to class one day and got loads of compliments. lol.

I have had a great HP find of my own! I made Hermione's muggle clothes (The Pink Hoodie) a while ago. I had everything except the shoes. Well I happened to be surfing through my Harry Potter group posts and found out what brand Hermione wore with that costume. So after months of searching eBay I finally was able to get a pair! I absolutely love these shoes! The only thing I have to do is put the embroidery on the sleeve and my costume will be 100% complete.

I want to put together a OotP Hermione costume...

I have everything but the skirt. I've been looking for patterns but can't find one I like. Does anyone know of a good base pattern to use for this? I can alter it if I have to.

Thanks.

Alot of folks use Starfire's skirt tutorial here, but if you're looking for an actual pattern I've seen Vogue 7879 used. It has a zipper in the back though but it would give you the general look.

Be sure to post up pictures when you're done!
