get a thick, black head band and sew, or safty pin it on to your head, you can't take the hood off, but it works pretty well

Not sure if this was covered here yet, but I spent several hours at an event on Saturday with Nalini Krishan, and she said the top is actually a lycra blend jumpsuit, with the skirt over it, and the belt is brown, FYI.

RE: Barriss Offee's Costume
I am new to this board, and costuming in general.
I have read all of the posts, and you all have been a great help already!
My question is, I have a very fair complexion and was wondering what others like me were doing for the makeup, and if you were planning on doing the green thing?
Any help would be great!

I'm afraid I can't help you that much because I don't have a fair complexion.
But maybe what you can do is take the make-up that you want to use and just test it on your skin. If it's no good than you know that and search for something else.

, I'm not too sure on the green thing since I totally left that part out...but I guess you could try green powder or something.. I tried some on my hands but it didn't really show up, so I guess you might have to use a little more. =P
Anyway, here's a pic of me and my not-very-nice Barriss costume. It was the best I could come up with in last minute though. I ignored the black lipstick since I couldn't find anything resembling what she wore. The cloak (which was supposed to be a LotR Fellowship cloak) was borrowed from one of our FanForce members.

My Barris costume was thrown together at the last minute, unfortunately. The makeup photographed a much brighter green than it was in person, but I still think I'll tone it down next time I don the costume. I had only about 20 minutes to get dressed and do my makeup, I need to allow more time in the future as well. I used Kryolan aqua makeup, it works really well. It's water based, dries quickly and doesn't smudge, itch or flake once it's dry. It also smells like baby powder, a big improvement over the usual makeup smell.
I free-handed the diamonds with black eyeliner pencil. My glasses caused some smudging on the bridge of the nose, but not too bad. As far as the costume itself, I need to bobby pin the under hood (just a scarf, really) to my hair and make a new skirt and cloak. I used black for the costume, makeup and belt just because I feel it looks more authentic. Even if the costume/makeup/belt is navy/purple/brown it looks black in most photos I've seen. The cloak doesn't look black but, being short on time and funds, I used what I had. And if I can't find a similarly patterned fabric, I'll probably stick with a black cloak.

RE: Barriss Offee's Costume
Hey everyone.
I'm thinking of perhaps trying to do a Barriss costume for fun. I think I found a good material for the top. I looked at pictures and it seems to be a somewhat stretchy fabric that is also ribbed. But does anyone have a pattern that could be used for the top? I have a pretty good idea for the skirt, going from the pictures I saw on the page before this, but I'm a bit confused as to the top. Also, would this costume look alright with a brown cloak or does it most likely have to be a dark color like black?

RE: Barriss Offee's Costume
I used Kryolan brand aquacolor makeup, the dry cakes, not cream or liquid. The color is mostly green #511, mixed with a little bit of a yellow ochre type color, #308. Next time I'll add more of the yellow and probably a touch of white to the base. I managed to get mine on clearance for $1.49/cake, so I bought 3 containers of the green, plus one each of the yellow, white and black. I wasn't sure how far each one would go. Turns out I bought way too much.... Websites advise that the 1/2 oz size (which is what I got) will cover 25 faces! I'd check out any local places that carry costumes or makeup year-round. It's available online, through various websites, but runs $6 and up.

RE: Barriss Offee's Costume
Has anyone tried using crushed velvet for the cloak? I spent the whole holiday weekend in search of the "perfect" fabric, and that was the closest I could find. The Navy Blue on this sight (under Crushed Velvet) seems like the best color match. Let me know what you guys think!
