RebelAllianceBarbie posted: BY THE WAY
I would just like to mention that today I bought a pair of boots off of ebay that are almost IDENTICAL to the real ones:
Those are the originals. This is what I bought:
The color is BARELY off, and it lacks the seam up the middle of the front, but everything else is absolutely dead on.
These brown suede knee-high boots are made by J-Crew. I haven't been able to find them anywhere else online, but I'm sure they're out there, or will at least crop up on ebay again.
Those look really great!!
Good find!
(I love eBay...perhaps too much.)
I don't know if they've still got 'em in stock, but bcoutlet.com has oodles of cheap stirrup pants and leggings normally.
Also, Roamans.com, and there's always some stirrup pants and leggings buried amidst the stuff on Spiegel.com
Also...especially if you're in a time crunch-- don't forget Thrift stores.
That's where I found mine.

Hi, just wanted to share the costume that I presented this past weekend at a local con. It's not finished, so don't critique TOO too much--I was expecting a pregnant belly to come in, and it didn't work, so I was un-pregnant for the con. I also don't have the buckle and brooch in, but I ordered them from the seller of the resin pieces that were mentioned above in an earlier in this thread. The straps aren't totally correct, but that's because my friend who did the leatherwork on them needed to have the buckle to finish it off totally. The boots also didn't come in in time, so I wore black boots. I don't particularly like the pants, I want to make my own, with the correct color and fabric. The arms also need to be tightened. But the tunic I am THRILLED with.
Unfortunately there isn't a good picture of the embroidery, but it came out excellent. I'm pleased with this costume's progress and I hope to have more complete pics by NY comic con.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
There is a chance I'll be able to do this costume this year, much to my excitement! we'll see how that goes.
Right now I'm still trying to figure out how to make the tunic movie accurate. Its going to be the most difficult part, I think.
What patterns did you use, RebelAllianceBarbie?

Thank you so much! ^_^
I got a looooot of help making the tunic, but it's SO accurate--I don't remember what patterns they were, but the person who helped me would know. I'll find that out as soon as possible and post how it was modified. (I HOPE she used a pattern, anyways...I'd love to share the info with everyone... )
I hope you get to do the costume!
Btw, is anyone 100% certain of how the straps are placed? (i.e. right over left in front, left over right in back) My 501st friend who does leatherworking was very confused as to what the heck they were trying to do with those straps.

cool, I look foreward to it!!! And as for the leather straps, if your staring AT the costume, the left one goes over the right. Here's the best promos for it:

I made this for ROTS opening night. I used the action figure to determine strap location and it came in handy showing my non-SW buddies what the costume should look like! You'll love wearing this costume! It's so comfy compared to other Padme costumes.

Warning:
Some of you may be thinking about purchasing the resin buckle and brooch from the site linked off of padawan's guide.
The good news? They're incredible.
The bad news? The buckle WILL break.
My dad is currently trying to find a solution to this problem so I can wear this at NY comic con, I'll keep everyone posted on the solution when/if we find one.
They're not flimsy, but they're very fragile, just by the nature of the original design. But I would still recommend them. I may have them molded and metal casted so I can have something stronger.

Any update on the breakage problem? I'm considering buying a set of these.

How easy is it to dye microsuede? (I think that's what its called) its Ultra Suede at least. Its a light color of brown, like Padme's leggings on this outfit.
Thoughts?

thanks for the unlock!
I just wanted to link to a picture of the symbol on the arm that my dad drew, taken from the picture from the "Dressing a Galaxy" book. It's not the straight unstylized symbol we thought, but a slightly altered one. Here's the link:

Hope that helps someone, it's helped me!
