Hard to say.

I would start with the helmet, which IMO is the most characteristic piece of a Vader costume.
But on the other hand, the armour takes more away from it than the helmet... Really hard to say.

I would do both grin

Thanks Rogan!

Now I can't wait for the costume to arrive so that I can start working on it.
Also, I heard that the armor needs some layers of fiberglass to be thicker.
Now I am wondering if its just better and cheaper to get another one.
The capes also look quite thin and need some lining.

For the helmet, I guess with a new pair of lenses and a repaint might do.

Hmmm. Now I wondering if its worth the investment in the supreme edition costume.
Too many upgrades to do.

Yeah, you may find that if you now crave something more accurate you may want to buy prop quality pieces.....

I have to say I like this Darth Vader Costume... Im not as hardcore as some on the forum may be with the overall likeness of it etc... but I think its sweet! happy Just my 2 cents...

Anyways I have ordered one... and am going to put it on display in my home... can anyone recommend a place to buy a mannequin online? Unless anyone else can tell me what to you underneath the outfit? grin Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers!
Steven

I'm buying this costume off ebay. I'll need the extra money cos this looks like a real fixer-upper.

gonzalc3,
I would say that you don't need to worry about the fiberglass right now. Only one person has mentioned this. For now, just do the repaint and save up for replacement pieces when you can afford them... or at least thats what I would do. happy

Agreed. Simply repaint it. It will look great, that's for sure!

I recommend getting some kind of cooling vest! It's hot in there grin

....wow, that chestbox looks tiny in the 2nd photo.....but I don't hate it....I think with work it would look quite good...

found this today while poking around for Vader pics. Compare it to that picture I posted on page 7 that you made the comment about. The chest box actually looks pretty similar in size to the movie one. I never noticed how big it was in the OT.

It was huge in ANH, but smaller in TESB and ROTJ.

The ROTS one seems to be fully intergrated into the undersuite. I wonder how to do this on the costume. thinking

That was one of the first things I noticed, the box being "in" the suit. I was confused about that and someone said it had been attached by harness in early films. My guess is the box was sewn into the suit and thus had to be smaller so that it wouldn't pull or anything. Got me.

Actually, I am a Sith Lord in my local 501st Garrison and before I was approved for membership, my Darth Vader costume had to be not only approved by the local Garrison Membership Officer, but the Legion Membership Officer. We have to send photos in for them to review. Essntially they want to make sure that the costume look accurate enogh to pass the test.

Personaly I do not have a problem withthe costume. I would change a few things to make it look more accurate, but it is better than a lot of others that I have seen.

Actually in the Rubies costume it is still attached by harness, the harness just goes through some slits in the suit, holding the box onto the suit. I think they would have done it the same way in the movie.
