Personally I'm attempting both a Maul and a Palpatine.

You might want to PM LORDWROTH and find out how far the ink in a Reel tattoo pallet goes. I believe thats what they used for Maul in Contract of Evil.

If you want to find out more about Reel you can visit their site at www.reelcreations.com

I used Reel Creations' Tattoo Black and Red #2 when I did Maul. The makeup goes on smooth and light, dries so thin that your skin texture is clearly visible underneath it, and resists rubbing off - the only place I ever had trouble was were the neck of my tunic rubbed against my skin all day. Reapplication there was really easy, though. Once it was on, I basically didn't feel it at all, so comfort was not an issue at all.

I used the liquid version (premixed in alcohol, versus the stuff in a palette), which I *WANT* to say ran me in the neighborhood of $45 for a 4oz bottle of either color. It's been an awfully long time, so I can't swear to that price. That bottle of red would do the red undercoat all over my face 10 times or more (I never used it all - it's still in my makeup kit, and I don't do Maul anymore). I used more black than red, usually, as I'd lay down a red coat and then go over it to do the tattoo pattern in black, but still, you're looking at 0.5-1 oz for a single application, depending on how big your head is and how much you cheat it out. I had a prepainted bald cap I used covering the back and top of my head, so I only had to do my face, neck, and ears, and averaged around .5oz per use. I started with 2-oz bottles, and did the costume and makeup 4 times on those, then got a 4oz red and 8oz black and only did it a few more times.

If you do decide to go this route, I recommend either their makeup remover or plain old cold cream (my choice - much cheaper!) - DON'T use straight alcohol to take it off. It'll work, but it hurts happy .

And is Palpatine mostly make-up or latex?
