Are there any regulars on this board who were chosen to march as Troopers/Rebels/Jedi in the Rose Parade? Or for that matter, anyone who will cheering us on from the stands? I understand that a whole contingent of Endor Rebels will be in the stands ready to raise the roof when we walk by. Wondering if anyone else was going to be there.

So Cal locals have been putting the float together for a while now, and have posted pics of the Endor and Naboo floats, as well as concept art of what the whole thing is going to look like (an entire marching band in imperial officer uniforms, ought to be surreal). I can post a link if anyone is interested.

I don't think any of the ones I know here (Jedi-Loreen and Zhi-don) are going to be in it, but you can sure bet they'll be cheering them on.

What band is going to be in the imp uniforms? I'm a former band nerd and the one thing I love is always seeing the Santa Clara Vanguard in the Rose Parade. Bands IMO make a parade.

Regular posters here, that I know of:

Anakin: Morgan Ken-Bur from Alderaan Base a.k.a. SL4885 from Connecticut Garrison

ANH Leia: Princess Solo - from Sunrider Base (confirmed 11/16)

Semi-regulars:

RFT: JediRacer - from Sunrider (confirmed 11/18)

Flame Handmaiden: GentleBant - from Sunrider (confirmed 11/18)

Some may have different board names here, but these are the names they use on the Rebel Legion boards.

Zhi-Don and I are working to finish up our Endor Trooper gear to wear when we go to see the parade where we will be sitting in the stands. There will also be several coming up from San Diego in Endor Trooper gear.

I really just have my helmet to finish up and everything else is done. I'm just waiting for the soft helmet parts before I finish my hard "donut".

I plan to help decorate the float in the final days - but so far it doesn't look like I'll attend the parade even though I will be in Pasadena (odd huh?). I would have loved to march in the parade, but competition for the non-stormtrooper slots was really tight.

Congrats to all who get to be in the parade! I envision myself cheering people on via DVR when I get back to the Bay Area.

Awesome! I was just telling surlygirlie the other day how that's one of my goals in life, to help decorate a float someday! Please tell me all about it when you get back. happy

I'm looking forward to watching the parade and trying to spot people I'll recognize, especially GentleBant. happy

Please post the link! As I am stuck here in Wisconsin with no hope of getting to California for New Year's day, I would love to see the work being done.

I will have to settle with watching the parade on HGTV (no commercials).

Heres the link to the photo album::::

Rose Parade Under Construction

If any of the Parade Marchers are here, let us know your JC name. My name on the RL forums is Red Four, but here I have this one, and I'm slighty more famous (to the moderators anyway), as Boskone_Kenobi

The band will be the Grambling State Marching Band from Louisiana

Here is the float progress so far from this weekend. Photos are by Kim & Cris. (Kim is helping organize fan participation in float decoration).

*edit* hahahha - looks like the above poster was sharing the link at the same time I was!

I'll bring my small camera when I'm there the final week. So far we have been told we can take photos before and after our shift or during our breaks.

That's awesome! I'm a 5-time vet of the Tournament of Roses Honor Band, the official band of the parade that's made up of the Pasadena City College band and local high school peeps, like I was. It was at once joy and hell, but totally worth it, after being on t.v. and especially now since I have fibromyalgia and couldn't physically march the entire way. : (

Have fun! The float looks really cool. And if you're marching, get some insoles for your shoes and wear nylon stockings under your socks to prevent blisters. Ans another thing- they always say it's never rained on the parade... Well every year I marched, there was some sort of rain. So I'd suggest bringing a trash bag if not for the rain, then for the early morning temps. It's pretty cold at 4 am and you can always throw it away before you head out.

Good luck!

Very cool. Thanks for the link. I saw former Garrison Titan members posing with part of the float!

So, are there really going to be Twilek dancing girls as flag bearers?

Yes! Thanks for the tips Maulested.
I'll be wearing my Rebel Fleet Trooper costume in the Parade. I lived in Pasadena for 13 years (although I just moved), and I've seen the Rose Parade every year since I lived 1/2 block from Colorado Blvd. I feel really lucky to be able to participate in the Parade. I was surprised when I learned that I was selected. Just look for the short Asian RFT, and that'll be me.

WOW!!! Thanks for the preview. Only one question. I was told NO blasters were allowed either by marchers or onlookers. Was this incorrect? I see armed stormtroopers on the storyboards.

Here's an interesting article about the 501st participation:

And another article about the 3 queens wearing the Lucasfilm Amidala costumes (one of them is a TFN fan force member):
