Bungee's should work. When creating leg extensions that's what is used to take the strain off the calves to keep the ankle straight. There's a decent tutorial here.

Some bungees in the right place should help lift it. Small black rubber ones just behind the wrist and just above the elbow. The weight should be enough to let you lower the arm without too much difficulty
oops! I wasn't paying enough attention. Place the bungees just in front of the elbow and up toward the shoulder.

I agree! Totally awesome! My only (Personal) critique is that I would have made the shoulders a little wider as the whole thing seems a little narrow. Mind you I have never made a giant robot costume and am in no place to judge such things.
Fantastic work! Looking forward to your next project!
By the by, the scorch marks turned out great!

Hey guys, I'm new here. Friend of Dan Hyatt. I'm attempting to design an oversized costume myself - but instead of a SW theme, I'm doing The Hulk.
Love those videos man - especially when the neighbors come out to take pictures
I started out thinking I wanted something around 12ft tall...I've decided to go smaller with 9ft. Any advice on how the legs work?

Mine and the costume that inspired mine are basically just boxes strapped to our feet.

At the Superman Celebration in Metropolis Illinois I took first place in the Creatures category and Second place overall. That amounted to $750.00 in prize money.

Y'know, despite my earlier criticism, the more I look at your costume, the cooler it looks. Congratulation's on the win!

Just noticed the hand rig you did. Don't know how I missed that before. Great stuff.
Might be a bit late, but here's a link for costume cooling rigs and ideas:

I had 4 cooling fans and a vest with pockets that held popsicles. I stayed reasonably comfortable while those around me sweltered.
