Fell in love with it the moment I saw the film and I knew that someday I would do it. Got nearly all the materials (save the gold damask, as well as some of the pearls and beads left to gather), patterns pretty well worked out, foundation garments complete, now it's just a matter of time. In short, I think I'm going to get very good at applique-ing gold tree branches and sewing on pearls.
But it's a brilliant film and I have a bad habit of gushing about it to people who have never seen it so I had better stop before I get ahead of myself. Frankly it's the best film I've seen years.

The appliqued tree branches are so beautiful. You will definitely become adept at them by the time you're finished. I think you're only the second other person I know who has seen that film. I thought it was brilliant too! Now I want to see it again.

Okay, 1 miserable part is done. I received my new Scout Gloves (with those Suede on certain parts) yesterday from US. It seems like yesterday that I received the announcement about the new version of the Scout Gloves and ordered it after receiving a reply on the shipping cost. Now to get rid of my previous one unless I can figure out what can I use it for...okay after I clean it up as altho' MIB, some white spots had appeared (it's leather).
Now to finish my "works" online so I can concentrate on making my Cummerbund and maybe even dig out those extra Cotton Drill I have to get my Seamstress to make the Vest for me when I go to see her soon to send in my STARDUST Yvaine Star Gown.

I saw it! I thought it was a great film! Very mind blowing. We all jsut sat in the theatre at the end going 'huh?' hehehe it was definitely a movie that made you think, which is so rare these days!! I'm definitely going to have to buy it now!!

I think my brain had half melted by the time the movie was over L_C It was lovely though, and the Queen's dress was beautiful. I'd completely forgotten about that movie too.

I had to get the dvd the minute it came out. A friend and I were lucky enough to catch the last showing in Milwaukee and it had barely been in the theaters two weeks! Needless to say, I was a blubbering mess when it was over, as was my friend, and thankfully there were only three other people in the darkened theater to witness our sniffles.
But this film was so powerful, both in idea and image, that we still talk about it over a year later. And we've made sure to get the word out to friends that The Fountain is seriously essential viewing.
But forgive me, I digress...

Pfft, it's a movie worth gushing over - If I recall correctly it didn't get that much publicity over here in Aus (probably because of its more surreal nature), though I'm glad I caught it in the cinemas. ... And now I have to go looking for the DVD to see it again

I don't recall the film getting much publicity in the US either. I saw it on dvd earlier this year and was riveted by it. It was a little sad to watch what the writers and producers of the film went through to get it made (on the making of documentary) and then to realize how little press it seemed to get when it was released after all they went through.
Speaking of costumes Rachel Weisz has worn, I'm dying to make this version of Snow White's costume from a Disney ad:

I love Snow White and I think this is the prettiest human representation of her that I've ever seen. I guess I should add this one to my list of costumes I want to make this year, but I doubt I'll have the time.

That is rather sad, that :-\
Yes - I saw her as Snow White and just went "Yes!" I'd always wondered how you could do the Snow White outfit well in real life and that was it.

I plan to remake my picnic gown, make a set of X wing pilot gear and possibly a set of generic Jedi robes for charity events. I also plan to do something for my daughter (no sure what yet, shes not decided) and I'd like to re make my Bellatrix LeStrange costume for the HP movie later this year. My son loves his Ewok, so till he changes his mind, gonna leave him happy with that one!

Oooooo....I also love those photos and costumes. Will love to get any one of them done but got to remind myself to concentrate on fulfilling the already overflowing list of costumes I have to do cause I already got some of the materials at hand.
Heehee.....I wonder if they're gonna release something from Beauty & The Beast (I want Belle) or Little Mermaid etc.
Btw, did I spy Snow White Dress is mostly Velvet or Velveteen and maybe some Silk for the Skirt?

I absolutely love Snow White, though I've never liked the bright yellow of the Disney version (I made my own version last year). But as soon as I laid eyes on the Rachael Weisz shoot I was completely in love and knew I had to do the disney version of SW as well!
Darth_Eagle, I noticed that as well! Originally I thought it might have been chiffon, like the picnic dress, but when I looked closer, I realised it was too thick around the waistband. I definitely think it's silk velvet!! It's so beautiful!
I'd also love to get the Snow White outfit done this year, but I'd like to focus on Giselle

Yeah, same here. I first thought it was a silk chiffon, but when I saw a larger version of the picture (like the one currently running in Vanity Fair magazine with Indy on the cover) I could see more detail. The fabric looks to have the texture of a silk velvet and when looked at cloesly the waistband and the hem are thicker than a chiffon. More like a silk velvet. But I still totally love the idea of it being done in a silk chiffon as well. Sooooo pretty either way.

I love those Disney ads. If I had the monies/body for it, I'd love to make the Cinderella one they made for Scarlet Johansson:
