Hmmm, what'd I do this year...
Well, I did a Robot Chicken Vader (modifications/extra parts for my current 501st Vader suit, really) for DragonCon, got some new pieces-parts for various costumes (Vader, Jedi, Imperial Officer, Stargate pilot, Pirate), and acquired nearly everything I need for my Tusken Raider but didn't actually put ANY of it together. Hmmm. Depressing, really, now that I look at it.
Project list for this year:
- Finish Tusken Raider. I wanted to have this done for Farpoint this year, but given that we're under the one-month-to-go mark and I was sick ALL this past week, it ain't happening. It'll be done before DragonCon, at least, gaffi stick and all. Maybe I'll even have an MP3 player dedicated for Tusken noises, as well.
- Get New BSG Service Blues uniform. Seems doable, as we just got word over on SciFiHero that money is being taken for the orders now, and fabric has been found. Have to see about getting my previously-ordered upgrade kit sent back for use with my uniform, I suppose - it ought to cut the cost down a little, since they're using those kits for the suits anyways. Gotta get the pistol ready to go, and buy a holster for it.
- Start my X-Wing Pilot. I hope to get the jumpsuit done, at least, as well as the chestbox (since I already have an unfinished box to work on). The helmet, well, I'll need to get a kit, as my noggin's too big for a Rubies/Don Post helmet and I want a custom helmet anyways.
- Re-do my Jedi. It's right on the border of being unacceptable for Rebel Legion costuming, and I've been unhappy with it anyways. Pretty much a complete do-over, except I should be able to use my current pants and robe, and the belt can be stripped and restained - but I have material for a new tunic set and obi which needs dyeing, and more for new tabards, I need new boots which aren't black, and I have a pile of shiny aluminum and electronic parts for a custom saber ready to go together once I get a sink-tube overlay cut for it.
- Ever-continuing mod work on my Vader. I need a new cape, sometime soon (the collar isn't right on my current one), and I keep meaning to work on my Vortex unit and get it up and running for use with the costume. The new boots are great, though, much better than the old FrankenVader ones I used to use.
- Upgrade work for my Stargate costumes. Sewing for rank patches on my F-302 Pilot, plus the squadron patch if it ever gets made... The accurate offworld jacket from SFH is finally incountry, and should be in my hands within the next couple of months. I have a zat kit which needs painting, and I'll need to get a holster for that, too. Upgrade/accurizing work on my P90 (gotta build the accurate sight assembly, as I don't want to buy the $300 Tokyo Marui Airsoft gun).
- Upgrade the Robot Chicken Vader parts, if Lori and I decide to keep doing these costumes. I need a fan and dedicated eye-lighting system in the helmet - one which will allow me to see would be nice, too, as I was utterly blind last year. The wings need to be redone, as well.
- Oh, I need at least a quick-and-dirty Raiders-style Indy costume before too long, to go with Lori's Marion. Better start looking for stuff, I guess.
- I ought to start some of the REALLY-long-term projects, as well - my Predator, Mjolnir (Master Chief) armor...
With a wedding coming up in late August, this may be too ambitious a list to get through - but then, that's nothing new, I've NEVER gotten everything done for the year that I hoped to. Our reach should ALWAYS exceed our grasp, right? Heard that somewhere...

Yeah, same here. I first thought it was a silk chiffon, but when I saw a larger version of the picture (like the one currently running in Vanity Fair magazine with Indy on the cover) I could see more detail. The fabric looks to have the texture of a silk velvet and when looked at cloesly the waistband and the hem are thicker than a chiffon. More like a silk velvet. But I still totally love the idea of it being done in a silk chiffon as well. Sooooo pretty either way.
I really love the idea of silk velvet, but I also really love the look of the Disneyland Snow White. I think she's got about 3 or 4 petticoats to help her skirt stand out beautifully! IT's jsut so pretty! So I'm torn between having a beautiful flowy skirt (ala picnic dress) and the typical princess skirt with lots of volume and petticoats! I might have to go back and look at the movie to decide!
But either way, I'm going to go with more of a gold for the skirt rather than the bright yellow!! I'm also thinking of making the bodice out of velvet, even if I make the skirt out of delustered satin, because I think it looks beautiful!!
Decisions! Decisions!!

Last_Chael, have you ever seen this website? It's got tons of pictures of Snow White (and all the other characters at Disneyland). I love looking through them all since I live so far away from the park now and don't get to go as often. *sigh* Anyway, it's great to see all the costumes and the photographer does an excellent job!

Alright... I knew this was bound to happen. I have another thing to add to my list
Today i was curious and put on my Glinda the Good gown. Anddd guess what. I could put it on myself. Whats the big deal? Before i was corseted and had a friend zipping me up because i couldnt do it myself. Needless to say, i've lost weight.
Sooooo.. Here's my plan. Im taking it apart.. I know i know. INSANE. Im going to make the bodice a separate piece from the skirt, this way, if i lose weight again, adjustments will be easy. I'm going to be boning the bodice, and saying bye bye to the corset. I dont need it anymore really, i have a fantastic shape
Im also adding more petals to the skirt to give it more poof.
So yea, look for the revamped Glinda at D*Con! Let's hope i dont get stuck in an escalator again

Though I'd love to have access to that costume shop...

Good luck with your re-vamped Glinda the Good!!!! It is such a cool dress! No immediate costuming plans here, but I have been tinkering with a Padme concept gown. I can't begin the gown, though, until well after the baby is born and I get back into shape. In the meantime I'll probably start the headpiece and any jewelry/accessories that I may need. It'll give me a good excuse to get eyeball deep in beads and crystals and metals and what-not. Mmmmmm...

Yeah, I've never really liked the patterned fabric they are using for Cinderella's gown. But it does look shiny in pictures.
BurntTheMacaroni, that's great! The redo will be worth it.

I adore that website!! I love surfing around it looking at all the pretty costumes! I would love to eventually get over to the US and hope to make it to Disneyland Although I must admit, I'm not a big fan of their Giselle! The costume is beautiful, but the girl in it!! Iiick!
I'm pretty sure I did, but I can link you to some I actually thought I had more online, but hopefully these are enough Here's the link to my photobucket. Hope you like them! The vest was such a pain (had to handbaste everything!) but I absolutely love it, and have worn it with a few other costumes!

You're doing a Kassia costume? That's so awesome One of these days I want to make Nyssa's outfit from Arc of Infinity (as well as Councillor Thallia's outfit - it's lovely once you remove the Time Lord collar).
