abodeofthedamned posted: A friend of mine once said that medieval gowns were made for fat girls (Her words! Not mine!) so flowing gowns can be quite fetching on the bigger ladies.
Could it be that being fat might means prosperity back then? I know currently for some Africa Cultures, they practically fatten the bride/wife like how they fatten the cow as it is like a Status Symbol. Watch the documentary a couple of time on Discovery Channel Asia.

Yes, during the middle ages someone who was overweight was desired because they were usually rich and could afford food. Therefore they were desirable (yes, I'm using that History degree I went to college for). Also it was a sign of good health. You didn't have a worm or any such thing if you were able to gain weight. Therefore you were healthy and could have healthy children.

iam too in the death star shaped group and i really like the armor but i know that i could never fit into the armor so went for the scout/biker trooper
here is a pic
at the moment i think its a bit too white. might dirty it up a bit or repaint it as a kashyyyk trooper in ROTS
i also do a naboo pilot
this one is good because of the long overcoat, but it is very warm because of all of the layers
and emperor palpatine
this one hides a lot and with it being black it has a slimming effect
i enjoy wearing my costumes and i hope this helps someone

nlindenj, I love your Naboo Pilot, it looks great! Your other costumes are great too, but I haven't seen that one done before.

hi laura
thank you for your kind words, here is a pic of the costume without the overcoat
the problem was the lack of referance material, so i mainly used the ric ole figure from TPM and pausing the dvd and getting screen grabs

I think that anyone can be whatever costume they want (I personally prefer that they at least stick with the correct gender). Of course, there are plenty of options if a plus-sized person wants to be a particular character that has a plus-sized frame. The plus-sized Twi'lek that someone mentioned from the bar scene is George's daughter (the purple spottish one). She's also a senator's aide or something like that in ROTS. Look in the background where there are lots of people, you'll see lots of body-types, though I admit skinny has the majority (stinks, but what do ya do?). Amidala or handmaiden costumes would work well for plus-sized ladies. There's always the various pilots (Porkins was a plus-sized X-wing pilot) or ground crew.
The thing about the Disney weekends, if you want to be in costume/in the parade you need to be in the 501st or Rebel Legion and your costume has to be movie cannon, NON-face character, and approved.
Good luck and be sure to post pictures of whatever you come up with!

One thing to also remember is that Disney will not let anyone with masks or helmets in for SWW. A plus sized Jedi will look great and it will be more comfortable than most other costumes. Even the 501st is not allowed to be in costume/armor after the parade. The liability issues prevent it. They have 40 characters there to interact with the patrons. I believe they allow children to wear what ever costume they like, but adults is another story. Definitely no "buckets" But you can wear makeup. There are a decent couple of Jedi patterns out there if you want to make your own or commision someone to do it for you. They can make whatever character adjustments you like.

I actually found the white Leia ANH gown (honeybun version) on e-bay that will be custom made for my measurements! I'm so excited. It's really professional looking and It's going to fit me. Thanks for all the input.
