Hello this is my first post on the site, and I was looking around for a nearby 501st garrison around Dallas Texas, but I found out that you had to be 18 instead of a certain height like a friend of mine told me. (Ill kill him for that.) I was wondering, since I am not 18 yet, if there was such thing as a "junior" version of the 501st for like 13 year olds who want to keep order in the galaxy? Thank you.

just because you are not of age to join the 501st or RL does not mean that you cannot start making your costume -

Although seemingly geared towards younger children...you can also check out: http://www.albinjohnson.com/501stcadets/
If need be you can shoot him an email about it and see what the age restrictions are....but like bassclarinets said....can still start now. To my knowledge, no height requirement, only age.

Hey...I can guarentee the 501st will be around in 10 years. As a member of the Legion's Garrison Carida in Pa, we have sooo many oppurtunities to be out trooping. And with the new STAR WARS live action TV show coming out this year...and the possible STAR WARS in 3D idea being tossed around...It will only create that many more oppurtunities for us. As its been said, start on your costume. My Vader took me 3-4 years to be ready for the Legion. I look foward to hearing about your progress.

What costume do you want to make? That information would be helpful.

OMG! That is exactly what my 16 year old fellow trooper had been wanting and even posting about the idea on our local forum only to be critize by one of our members (am I the only one in the Garrison to remember the days when 501st allow Minors with quality Armors to "join" the Legion as Cadets?). Must rush him to finish his AOTC Clone since he exchange it with his Scout (ya, kinda dumb move as the Clone Armor is crappy quality and one of our friend had work his rear off putting the SC Scout together within a week)

Have you check out http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/stormtrooper/index.html?
Just remember that in order to qualify for 501st, quality apart from accuracy is encourage hence move choose to either buy their armor and parts (and put it together etc) or made the parts from correct materials like ABS, Leather etc. Anyway, you got many, many years to prefect your armor before qualifying for 501st.

Each garrison is different, but I know that our Garrison (SoCal Garrison) lets underage kids join the boards for help on costuming and such. They can't come to official events, but they're all set to go once they turn 18.

Yes, Southern California.
The So Cal Garrison will also sometimes allow kids to Troop in costume with parents who are 501st members, at casual, non-official events.

The 501st Charter requires all members to be 18 to join, and has since I can remember (back to 2001). Every Garrison is under the Charter, so they each have to follow that rule. With that said, each Garrison may differ on what kind of involvement is allowed on their forums. In Florida, we allow anyone to post in the public areas, including the armor forums, regardless of age. But membership and participation in 501st events (unless a parent is involved in the event) requires the person to be 18.
