I just wanted to know what some of you may have used to make Imperial rank bars. I have looked for links to some supplies of parts, but the thing I am having a hard time finding is the keycap replacements that have been used for the "lozenges" on the rank bars.

Well, reading one of the previous issues of SW Insider, I found out that the Rank Bars are actually made from Square LED(?) Button color caps.
This is the photo my friend
is using in his sale of the
Caps or completed Rank Bars
to us.
You can try looking for shops selling it or online.
Another way is to use Acrylics or Plexiglas pieces to make the bars as said in this thread:
I am making an Imperial Rank bar
I heard "that eBay Costume Store from the same country as me" used Craft Foam but it'll look cheezy IMHO.
For the Base, can either use Metal Sheet (Normal Craft Aluminium Sheet OR hard ones, depending on the tools at hand) or Acrylic with its top covered with Chrome Sticker.

Yes what you were showing in the picture are what I am looking for, but I have lost the link when my old hard drive took a dive and have not been able to find it through google. Thanks for your help anyway.

How about registering and trying to look around at the Imperial Officers Corps Forum? I can see at least a Thread on the Rank Bars there with some links to online stores selling them.
The problem is, I live in Singapore and there is a shop here selling those Caps (tho' it's closed when I drop by there Ya, should had gone in the afternoon instead of evening) so have no need for online source.

Already registered. Am a mod on new forum and can't look at old forum to see if I can find the old link. Flint is still transferring over old but useful information from the old forum.

I have made a few rank bars.
I usually give the bars a "brushed metal" finish, simply by scratching them with rough sandpaper in one direction. I think it looks nice, and is much easier than a perfect mirror finish.
Button caps: EAO series 01. I remove the white inner cap, and brush epoxy thinly on the edge. If you drop epoxy on the metal, remove it with a q-tip or tootpick dipped in water - I have these handy from the start.
The best method I have found for attaching the bar to the costume is velcro!

Thanks. We have made our own in the past, but I couldn't find the link for the materials we used until yesterday. www.newarkonew.com They supply electronics components. All kinds of domagiggys that can be used for a number of costume parts. Buttons, switches, lenses etc.

That great!
Btw, those who're 501st members, you can get the Caps from my friend too over at the 501st Forum under the Sale Section. Didn't see the thread till a week or so back when I was looking for patches (ya, I'm also collecting 501st/RL related patches now....slowly)

I am gunshy of purchasing any more patches until my current patch order situation is dealt with... I wanted to do a banner that had all of the garrisons, squads, outposts and detachments represented with their respective patches. I was going to do the same for the Rebel Legion. But I don't see it happening anytime soon. A certain founding member of the 501st needs to pull his head out of his posterior region and make things right.
