I have recently come into posession of a GIGANTIC Darth Vader statue. It is close to 7' tall and completely screen accurate (As far as I can tell). It even has blinking lights and such on the chest and belt, and a lightsaber hanging off of his belt. It is freaking HEAVY (250lbs) and there is a plaque on the base that says that it is Darth Vader from "Empire Strikes Back" and is a limited edition of only 500 pieces. I have looked all over the internet and can not find anything on this statue, including on Star Wars boards. Does anyone know anything about this. Where it comes from? Who made it? Is it valuable? It almost looks like ot could have been in a movie. Vader has his hands on his hips almost like a Superman pose. If anyone could shed some light on this subject I would be most grateful. Thanks.

My first thought was Don Post, but they never did a vader life size.
My guess is it was fan made. Pictures would help a lot to determine that though.

Yeah, but if it was fan made it wouldn't be part of a 500 piece production run. It looks too professional to be fan built, but then again who knows. I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days, but if anyone knows anything, chime in.

Our Darth Vader has a Vader Statue that he initially stripped its main parts (helmet, Chest Box etc) for his Armor. If I remember correctly, he said he bought it from an Arcade here (or was imported from US or gotten from fellow local collector? He got a few SW/Predator/Alien Statues) But only having seen it once at his "workshop", I can't remember what was written on the plaque tho' I know it's a Licensed item and might even had seen it in SW Insider before (Pre-1999 when we still have the Jawa Trader inside it). And yes, it has Blinking Lights on the Chest and Belt, and maybe sound too.
This is the Statue I think (this was taken before he get a "workshop"):

I would also suggest asking in the collecting forum. The people there usually knows about anything official, and in some cases unofficial, that's been released.

Okay, I wasn't dreaming when I said I saw an Ads about a 1:1 Vader Statue inside Pre-TPM SW Insider:
This was taken from one of the SW Insider's Jawa Traders, Issue 32 onwards. Ya, sadly it didn't mention the producer (same goes with the Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite tho' I think the later is from Don Post?)

Rubies made it. I think they still have it on display at their convention set-ups.
I seem to remember a lot of early costuming molds were ripped from that statue

It's not the Pepsi statues, that's for sure. Maul's pretty light.

It's not 250lbs after all. Now that I've lifted it up, it's probably more like 75-100lbs. I got that original figure from the person I got it from. It appears to be composed of a firm foam-like substance over a metal framework for the body, and then fiberglass and/or polycarb. for the various armor plates. Very solid and well made though. Apparently there aren't many left in existance. It turns out that it is the "Rubies" after all.

Here's a link to another Vader statue (Not mine, this one is pretty beat up) but it has some great pictures as well as scans of the C.O.A. and the shipping instructions that came with the statue. Very cool. http://darthvader.ca/RARE+LIFE+SIZE+DARTH+VADER+MANNEQUIN+FIGURE+COA.html

Hmmmmm, last weekend I was in a costume store in Manhattan, around 11th and Broadway and they had a Vader statue that looked just like what you're talking about -- not for sale, just display. They also had the Han Solo in carbonite and quite a lot of ther non-SW oddities to look at. So, there are a few still around.
