Hello all TFN people, BLACKxOUT here:
Well I had an idea since the lack of saber props out there is dwindling and for the fact that their not cheap even when you do find them to design some relativly easy saber props.
Their all machined out of high grade Alum just like the other sites their just not as spectacular BUT they will do for what you need and at a cost effective price
The designs are very simple so that you don't need to spend over 75 bucks or more for a hilt.
I've come up with three easy designs and tried them out and they turned out, to my surprise ,really good. Now I will post pics when they are fully done which will be on sunday but I wanted to throw the idea out there to see what people would think and if they would want them.
There will be 3 in total of each size and if demand for different designs comes up i will do more BUT alas start small.
1 1/4 inch alum, 11 inches long. there will be a 3/4 hole drilled for the prop blade and a set screw to hold the blade in place.
These will sell for $35
The next three will be 1.5 inch X 11 inches long alum. These will have designs as well just a bigger diameter. They will sell for $50
I will also do a very plain brushed alum saber with no designs for $20 this design will only be in the 1 1/4 inch range.
There will be an option of adding a covertec clip to the saber as well as getting stunt blades for the sabers if you can't find anywhere in town to buy them since youn can most likly go to any metal store and buy some alum.
Once i finish the first three I will post up some pics and see if anyone wants one. If the feedback is good then I will go ahead and do a whole bunch and set up a site for them. Remember these sabers I thought would be good just for the fact that not everyone can pay 100 or more to get a sweet rockin saber and lots of people would like to do fan films but they use broomsticks because they can't afford a machined saber. Im in the process of making a new film called star wars a new order and have been working on it and paying out the butt for props and costumes and know how hard it is to come up with the cash for it. Thats why I thought these might be a good idea to help out the star wars community a bit!
on that note post up your comments and let me know what you think!!!
cheers blackout

Well anyone who has seen any of my various posts in context to lightsabers is that I want a dual saber that quick disconnects. The idea is that it could be a saber staff, like Maul, or it could be quickly disconnected to be two individual sabers.
I always get pointed to places all the time, but you know I am always looking for the best place to do the job for what I want.... know what I mean?

Your best bet would be two seperate (well 3 if you think about it )props. One that disconnects into two sabers and one that doesn't.
The reason why I state this is because it can be tricky to get a strong enough connecting mechanism for the staff that disconnects to be able to withstand blows from sparring and whatnot when in staff mode. Of course if this is just for show, then one staff that disconnects into two sabers is all you need.
As far as making a connecting mechanism, there are several ways to go about this. Some are stronger or better looking than others. Embedding a nut in one end and a very short bolt in the other is the simplest way. However if you go that route, having an inch or so of one hilt countersinking into the other would be a good idea for strength purposes. It's also not exactly "quick release". Even a 1/4" long bolt with large threads requires several turns to remove the nut from the very end of it.
On another note... BLACKxOUT, I don't think you are allowed to advertize non-licensed Star Wars-ish items in this thread. I believe you can post pics of custom saber hilts you are selling but not advertise them as being for sale or post links to where others can buy them. Otherwise I'd be advertising mine right now. Of course once you mention that you have stuff like that for sale, you can always use PMs or email to discuss that sort of thing.
