Info needed on resin-casting weapon props

After 20 minutes of searching, I can't seem to find any info here on this. I've got a project coming up that's requiring about 15-20 of the same weapon (custom design based off of the SCAR-L rifle). Instead of purchasing several of the airsoft replicas of this rifle, and modifying each one the same way, I thought I'd explore making resin copies off the same mold, and then painting details on. Has anyone tried this before, and what do I need to know?

Bear in mind when casting something like a rifle, you have to seal anyplace where the moulding compound can seep in, so it will take a bit of work. You also might want to consider either doing a vacuform cast or casting in fiberglass as opposed to solid resin.

Sigh... yes, I know google is my friend. What am asking is what are YOUR experiences with it, and thus anything I should be looking out for?

I too am interested in this. I have amassed a number of realistic guns, both airsoft and solid resin screen-used props, (yay ebay) and I was thinking of molding them and making an entire arsenal.

For smaller guns, go out and rent Sin City the two disk edition. Watch the props section to get an idea how they did the moulds for the pistols.

That is an excellent idea.... I need to take some photos of my DL-44 variant that I put together myself. Perhaps that could be of some use to someone?
