Tommy Gun dimensions/details

Hi everybody.
I recently stumbled across some one's online photo album where they'd gone and built an Aliens pulse rifle, based around a Tommy Gun. Because I was really tired at the time, I can't remember where I found that album.
I'd love to know what the actual dimensions of every part of a Tommy Gun are. If I can build one, then I'll hopefully take the next logical step and build a pulse rifle around it.
Thanks for any info and pictures.
P.S. I seem to recall that there were at least two different models of Tommy Gun.

The Tommy Gun that the "actual" pulse rifles were built upon was the Thompson M1. It has a side-cocking lever where as the older versions of the Tommy Gun have a top-cocking lever. If you have about $600 to $800 you can always buy the airsoft version (which is a kit built around an airsoft version of the Tommy Gun).
As for dimensions, perhaps a Google search using the proper search terms will turn them up right away. You might try here to see if they have any useful info. Another excellent site is www.m41a.com. They have a lot of info on building your own pulse rifle.

Check with the good folks at www.scifimilitary.com - I know they're working on manufacturing the external shell of the pulse rifle.

You may want to try Cushman Paintball Online.... he manufactures custom-made paint markers, as well as non-firing replicas of real and some sci-fi weapons. I would also check him out... he is most likely the site you were referring to.

For $500 USD, you can buy a Pulse Rifle conversion kit over at Monsters in Motion. It's designed to fit around a Thompson M1A1 airsoft rifle (Probably Tokyo Marui).

Nice. 
I actually want to buy a legal semi-automatic Thompson M1 rifle replica and modify the airsoft kit to fit it. Sure it will have a longer barrel (to be legal) but it will be fully functional and turn heads at the target range. Unfortunately sighting it in will be a pain.

It is possible to get the 10 inch barrel... but it requires getting the necessary paperwork from the ATF and something like $300 (I think) to get yourself the Class III Federal Tax Stamp on the weapon. And it can take up to a year to get approved as well...

In Oregon (where I reside) I would only need an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle) license which is a lot easier to get than a class III firearms license. However I think I would have to notify the "law" whenever I was transporting the weapon (where and when) from one location to another such as to the range and back... lame.

Yes I am...
My buddy is a WWII re-enactor and one of the things the club was specific about was that he had to convert his Tommy Gun to the 10 inch barrel if he wanted to use it at events. Just like in the 501st and Rebel Legion, they pride themselves on having everything completely 100% accurate and/or 100% reproduction accuracy.
We both live here in Oregon. The information he was given by the BATF was that he had to get that Class III Federal Tax Stamp. As long as he kept the paperwork on him at all times, Johhny Law couldn't touch him for having a modified Tommy Gun.

A class III license is needed for fully automatic weapons. I only want a semi-automatic version of the Thompson. An SBR license is needed for barrels under 16 inches for rifles that are semi-automatic or single-shot. However there may be a limit on size so perhaps a 10" barrel needs a class III whereas perhaps a 12" barrel only needs an SBR... or perhaps your friend's Tommy gun is fully automatic thus explaining the need for a class III license. This is all stuff I looked up for the state of Oregon so I'm not just talking out of my rear here. I wasn't interested in finding out if there was a minimum barrel length with an SBR license so I really don't know if there is one.

EDIT: According to a gun shop employee that I spoke with, a barrel length that is under 20" but is 16" or longer is considered a youth-sports rifle (at least in Oregon) which is why Berreta CX4 Storms are legal here. Yes, I own one.

My buddy's Thompson is a semi-auto put out by Auto Ordinance.
