I have been unable to find the Mace Windu Force FX lightsaber at a reasonable price. (My costume is Anakin Solo, so I need a purple one. I'd have to put some removable doodads to the handle to make it more authentic-looking, but that's no big deal.) Is there any safe and effective way to change the color of the blue saber to purple? I'm thinking well-applied pink clingwrap.

Any other suggestions, other than selling plasma to get the cash? I might end up doing that. tongue

Get yourself a coversion kit so that you can have removabe blades. You could then get any color blade to plug in to the hilt. I am not up all the technical stuff, but I think thereis a conversion kit that does allow for this.

You could have the saber converted to take Luxeon/Seoul LEDs. I think the basic design and shape of the Seoul LED is the same as the Luxeon LEDs. It's only one LED and it's in the hilt instead of a string of LEDs in the blade. For a purple blade you could have a White Seoul P4 or P7 LED installed and use color changing disks to change the color to whatever you want.

That's really the best way to go for a purple blade if you can't get a Mace Windu Force FX saber.

You might try contacting Ultrasabers if you decide to have the conversion done.

Another option... if you can remove the blade, you might try inserting red poly wrap. It's better than cellophane and shrink wrap and you can find it at hobby/craft stores like Michaels.

I hope that helps.

I almost forgot the triple color luxeons. They have a red, green and blue LED on one PCB. Hard to get optics for but with the right wiring you can have the red and blue LEDs on at the same time for a purple blade. I have seen Greytale Novastar's version of a 3 LED saber. It's pretty pimp.

He didn't specify which FX saber he has, only that the stock blade is blue. Obviously it is not the Mace Windu FX saber. Regardless, yes, he could buy a conversion kit himself from TCSS instead of Ultra Sabers if TCSS has one for his particular saber and he's able to do the work himself.

The reason I mentioned Ultra Sabers and not TCSS in my previous post is that Ultra Sabers has a wider selection of conversion kits and they also offer to do all the work themselves as well as sell kits for the do-it-yourselfer.

I don't have any right now, and was going to get one. The Windu sabers are a lot more expensive than some others I'd seen because they're not being made anymore, which was why I was considering getting a different one and trying to change the color - with blue to purple probably being the easiest.

It's looking like the cheapest solution is just to pay the $200 or so and not mess with color changes after all. Thanks... and yes, the replies did help.

i know both Tim and Alex and have bought from both numerous times. Alex does have a few more kits than Tim right now, thats true.

but hopefully if the hasbro fx sabers prove to worth the money Tim will start producing more kits again. as far as going from a blue to a purple goes, the BEST way is to install a seoul p4 240 lumen white and use a lee filter to get your purple.
