Jack Sparrow.... looking for help
I would really love to make this costume as oppose to buying it off Ebay from Sith-World(empire worldwide) or moviewardrobea2z (Anthony Z). Not to just not support them and their talents but because I'd really like to learn how to sew. And I'd like this costume to be my first project.
I'm looking for advice and pointers? I did Capt'n Jack this year for Halloween. My mom made it for me though and I acquired accessories. She used the Simplicity pattern # 4923. I had lots of people telling me I looked just like him but I myself know I wasn't even close.
One question is can this Simplicity pattern be used and are there any known online modifications that can be found to resemble movie accuracy a little more?
Secondly, Can anyone tell me exact colors and fabrics used and how to acquire them? I've been to atleast 10 fabric stores and haven't found anything that looks right. for material or buttons.
Here's a crappy camera phone pic of what I looked like last night. I'll have better pics once my girlfriend downloads them off her camera.

The Costumer's Guide to Movie Costumes
www.costumersguide.com/cr_potc.shtml
And most definatelly:

Lots of help there!
Good luck!

I've found cheap versions of all the buckles on E-Bay. Although, at an average price of about $5 I would worry about their quality. If they're pewter they should hold up, but if their made of something like pot metal they will likely break in short course...
