O.K., so technically...I wore this for Halloween 08; however, I finally got around to lining the corset and adding some finishing touches earlier this month. I've wanted a can can for the past couple of years, and now I have one!

The only thing I truly want to do for sure is to start actually sewing my Padme light blue tatooine dress (Covering the tummy- not my greatest feature) - hopefully in time for prom! If not, then I'll have it for halloween!

And if I actually get it done, I'd love to do a Sheltay Retrac costume! Looks fairly simple.

Since i'm new to these forums, i thought it would be nice to share the plans i have for 2009. First of all: i'm more of a fantasy-fan then a Star Wars-fan (sorry! happy ), but i am fond of good-looking costumes in general, so from medieval to science fiction and everything in between.

To do list for 2009:
- Leather sea-witch mask, already have the idea drawn out but just need to buy leather + dye.
- Cut my darkred curtains into: Butterick 3552, the dress on the right. I already made the dress on the left in lightblue which came out just great.
- Make the dress on the right in a nice ivorywhite: Butterick B4571
- A big challenge for me will be making Butterick B4254 in orange to make a costume that i base on a great painting from Deviantart. The artist gave me permission (asking please please to make it before april so i can show it off on a fantasyfestival she is going too aswell grin ), i just need to get started really... I'm also making the wings that are shown on the drawing.
- Then finally coming to Star Wars; somewhere this year i want to make Padme's Loyalist Gown. I signed up initially to make an order for the fabric that is needed for the overcoat. When the fabric lies on my doormat, i can start getting the fabric on the market in Amsterdam needed for the bust and skirt as i want a good match with the overcoat happy

Want to do:
- Elven Second Age Armor from Lord of the Rings. I totally dig this armor and i know i can do it, but i kinda need the money to buy enough leather to make it.
- Make a Mord-Sith costume. A Mord-Sith is a character from the Terry Goodkind-books. I started out this costume last year, finding out the red leather is not suitable for wearing since it just rips apart. It was my first shot as sewing aswell, so that didn't help much either. When i got the time (looking at all the things i want to do and probably can't do in a year) i want to start over, trying a different approach.

I'm paring down my list this year as I'm so near graduation that I can taste it. I'm also in a similar situation as LastChael. I have a ton of fabric and materials for costumes that I've been accumulating over the last few years and have yet to really start on them. I even bought a serger for one of them and it's still not done!

The list as it stands now:
Trunk projects of which I think there are 3, but I can't remember what they are at the moment.
-I think it's the Arena Costume, untorn and more about the hairpiece than the costume. I know, I'm weird.
-Loyalist gown since I bought the silk burnout velvet just before Silk Connection stopped carrying it. That feels like ages ago! And I want to do it while I still have access to the huge dye vat on campus.
-Trillian jumpsuit. I had one but the terry cloth started to unravel, so I bought a terry cloth with some stretch this time, but it also means I have to re-embroider the Heart of Gold arm patch.
Wedding Gown for a 1/10/10 ceremony
-I have it sketched out and I know what fabrics I want to use, but I won't let myself start on it until the Spring Quarter is over in early June.
2 Bridesmaids dresses (if the girls don't find anything they like).
-I've chosen shades of Sapphire Blue because I want my Mom to wear her Bridal Gown from her '02 wedding to my Step Dad, and then my MOH will be in a medium shade and the Maid in a lighter shade. Groomsmen to match. I'm trying not to plan everything and do my homework, but it's so HARD! wink

I had a brainblast at about 1am and remembered from several years ago someone made "Padmé pillows" and I then decided that I would probably make a few of those given it would be cheaper than making actual costumes plus it would open me up to costumes that wouldn't flatter my figure tongue Also, I just love pillows. Always have.

So off to the fabric store for me! I hope to make at least four or five pillows.

Definately:
Parade
Steel Blue
Corset
Coruscant Kimono
Lake Gown

Maybe:
Picnic Dress (If I get the ambition tongue )
Sabé Decoy
Purple Senate

Wow, I haven't been here in a long time... thanks a LOT, College tongue

Since I threw out all my old Star Wars costumes since my skills have improved in leaps and bounds and I wouldn't be seen in them, I'm pretty SW Centric this year...

2009 Costumes:

Working on a Mandalorian Merc
Working on a 1750's Historical Gown
Will be starting Endor Trooper Leia shortly
Starting a proper Jedi, a zabrak, later in the year (drew out my design here: )
May start Victorian undergarments later in the year

And I might add more depending how quickly stuff gets finished and what events I can go to happy

My current plan is Jaina's red dress in Dark Journey. I have most of the drawings done, so now to find fabric and such. If I have time, I'll think about a flight suit.

I've been working on "Willie Scott" for a while now, so I thought I'd post some progress pics:
*The Shoes--the heel is a little higher than I'd like, but the price was right (ebay) and they aren't as uncomfortable as they look:
[image=]
*The gloves--gold and red stretch satin covered in sequin trim (I actually wore then as I sewed the trim on!)
[image=]
*The dress: about 15% complete. The sleeves have been sequined, but not attached yet. The beaded trim that wraps around the neck and bodice area is not finished yet---it will have to be hand-sewn on later, anyway. Lots to do!!!!
[image=]
Good news--my can can dress won 1st place in the adult category of the Simplicity costume contest! I used simplicity patterns for the corset and the skirt, and entering it in a contest made me particularly careful in the construction process LOL. It's my first 1st place win, and just the boost I needed to really get to work! Plus, the prize money will come in handy when prepping for D*C...

Ooh! I wish I were going to D*Con now to see your completed costume! I know a lot of people don't like Willie as much as Marion, but I did LOVE her costumes. Your progress looks GREAT so far!
