Hi everyone,
me and my sisters want to costume as the solo kids

I'm going to be Anakin because I'm the shortest ^___^
image

my sister want to be this Jaina
The problem is Jacen's costume looks like this
and we don't want to do that because it not very interesting =_= and it won't match with our costumes
In every one that goes with Jaina's costumes, he's waering that overall thing.
so we think is there a image of Jacen in Jedi tunic? or shall we make one up? the idea is to do one like anakin's but green color.
what do you think? will it still be recognisable?

thanks ^__^

Wow, you actually will have all three kids together, that's brilliant! ^_^ I must say I'm kind of jealous as my brother and I are doing Jaina and Jacen but we don't have another sibling to be Anakin Solo. sad

Tbh, unless you count Sith Lord Jacen (Darth Caedus), I cannot find an image of Jacen in a Jedi robe anywhere. sad My brother and I wound up just going w/the green flightsuit version and I'm working on Jaina's costume from the same Japanese NJO cover as his. I think we did quite a good job so let me know if you need any help w/materials, where to find things, etc. More than happy to help.

I just love it when actual siblings do the Solo kids together, I think it's adorable.
If you're doing this for a convention, mind if I ask which one?

Realistically, that Jacen costume is basically Luke's pilot ground uniform, as worn on Dagobah in ESB. Of course, the artist took a little free license to change it up a little bit, which is fine. But, I think the inspiration of this costume can be traced back to his uncle's ground uniform.

To be honest, I don't think it is a big issue with Jacen not looking like his siblings. It speaks of his character to always feeling like he was the odd duck, so to speak. Personally, if you have two siblings that the three of you could rock the Solo kids, I say embrace it... go for it, even!

hello hugs

thank you very much for your thoughts on this.

actually I have 5 siblings, 4 sister and a brother ^____^ we're trying to convince them to join as tahiri, tene ka and zekk(my brother who is very tall) but that's a lot of costume making...

I think you will look great as the solo's, Yun-harla. ^____^ I always think it looks best done by brother and sister ^____^ I think it's really sweet love Your brother looks cute as Jacen, if you mind me saying wink I think you did a very good job.
Thanks very much for offer of help hugs it's very much appreciated. me and my sister Chieko are starting Jaina's first. I might ask you for some help if we get stuck ^___^

We do hope to wear them at a convention next year. We're going to america to visit our uncle and cousins, and hopefully go to convention while staying there. america has lots of amazing looking conventions dancing

I think Jacen's costume will be last because we haven't completely decided, what you said makes sense AramysStrael, and still thinking about that.

No problem. I live to help others. Truth be told, I am wanting to do a New Jedi Order era costume and I really like Jacen's look, very much. It has the appeal of both pilot and Jedi all rolled into one. Luke Skywalker is my biggest hero in Star Wars. I try to emulate him a bit in my costuming... that is when I do costuming that reflects the light side of the Force! ;-)

I'm torn, because I want to do something quasi-traditional with robes (only in green and black, instead of browns and tans), but I kind of like Count Dooku's look, as well. Then there is the Jacen look. I'm thinking of maybe doing something that incorporates all of those facets, myself.... like for "formal functions", such as a "State Dinner", Jedi Aramys Strael would probably wear something like what Dooku wears, only with tabbards and an obi.

But I keep going back to the functionality of the jumpsuit look, like with Jacen. I think that is was the authors and artists were going for in terms of his look. He was Jedi, but he was military-esque, as well. My Star Wars persona, Aramys Strael, is very much the same way.

So if you ever need any help, or objective insights from a different perspective, let me know. I would be happy to help! wink
