Out of work, so I went hunting and wasting time. Found myself at macon antique store. I always look out for those old flash handle's to make a Lightsaber and just wasting tim Looks like I found one, but I can't right now afford $50! I know they go for more on ebay. However also didn't want to get the wrong thing. The sellers was selling the kit, not just the flash. Came with camera and all. Wonder if I could get it, keep the Flash and make my money back on ebay for the camera. Here the pictures:
Should I run back and get this! I would LOVE to make a handle but $50 is a lot when your out of work.
I notice the box says it is a Graflex, but the Flash Handle says Heiland. Not how tell if it's 3 cell or not.
Also does anyone know what they go for on ebay?
All info needed!

That's the Heiland flash, which IS what was used for the ANH Vader lightsaber. Sounds like a good deal, even if you only make SOME of your money back selling the camera those are hard enough to find that it's worth your while.
Good luck. J

Vader Flash Handle Found? Help
Thanks for the reply, being out of a job I didn't want to get burned and waste $50. I would LOVE to try to make my own ANH Vader saber and this would be a great protect! Who knows, if I make it and it just starts to collect dust maybe I can sell it. Thanks again and great to know I found one, always looking for flash handle's just in case. The timing was bad but better than nothing.

Incorrect!
The brand of flash was "MPP" (Micro Precision Products).
MPPs were used in both ANH, ESB and at some extent in ROTJ. (a few other lightsaber props were also built for ROTJ not from an MPP - e.g. the one that Lucasfilm shows in exhibitions is not build from an MPP, but from a Graflex flash).
The MPP flashes were constructed much as copies of some of Heiland's models. So you can build a pretty nice Vader saber from a Heiland flash -- provided that you have a variation of the Heiland flash that is close enough, and many people have.
However, judging from these pictures, I don't think that this flash is close enough. It lacks a black center-mounted clamp, the shroud (cylindrical on the bottom of the reflector) has two steps instead of one, and the endcap is too different. Buying replica parts to replace these would set you back more than $50.
Btw. I suppose that the camera is of the Graflex brand. $50 for a Graflex camera in working condition, with case, would not be such a bad deal, though.

The Heiland Synchonar was used in ANH(noted by its hexagonal endcap), the MPP used in ESB AND ROTJ as the "jedi" Graflex saber seen often was actually not used in ROTJ, but built after the film came out.

Now, you are confusing things.
If you have proof that a Heiland Synchronar was used in ANH, then please post proof of that. I have only heard of Vader-lightsaber props been used in ANH that were made from flashguns and both were made from MPPs.
The lightsaber seen often as the "Vader ROTJ saber" was not seen much, or at all, in the movie, no, but it was not based on an MPP. It was based on a Graflex. No MPP or Heiland parts on that one.
I suspect, that the common "Vader ROTJ saber" could have been the one that Vader threw at Luke. (Btw. the lightsaber blade came out the wrong end of the ligthsaber in this shot ...

The Heiland saber was pretty common knowledge, some arguments about it but I've not seen anything concrete either side.
The ROTJ saber was a reused ESB Vader saber. The graflex "rotj" saber was not in the film, at all. That myth was busted wide open on the RPF about a year ago.
It was built later and used as a showpiece.

kk as a Vader in the 501st i done lots of research into that before i made my own, in fact, a british MPP WAS the handle used for ALL vader sabers in the old trilogy movies, NOT a Heiland, the heiland is a close but NOT correct version most of us use to make one from, because a MPP is kinda hard to come by. and is acceptable if you make it look as close as possible using the right stepped shroud replacement, and a mod to the slots near top end.
i dont know where you read or heard that a heiland was used in the movie but it was most defintely NOT used, a MPP was used in all 3 old movies.
