Hey Sakara, yeah from looking at high-res shots, I realized that those weren't pintucks. Since I bought pre-made pants, it seems that best way to simulate these without tearing the pants apart would be pintucks or pucker seams. I'm actually going to start that tonight!
senator__padme: The fabric paint worked out so much better than I thought it would for the pintucks on the shirt! I used that TULIP Slick Dimensional Fabric Paint (I got the last bottle at Walmart haha).
Jade-Walker : Haha I'm prolly bugging the crap out of you, I'm so sorry! I just have a question about the armbands. My Dad has aluminum flashing already, so I was planning on trying that with some industrial-strength velcro (and filing down the sharp edges of course!). Do you have any cushioning on the underside of the armbands? Or is it just the aluminum flashing wrapping right over the shirt fabric? Do they slip at all?

Ooh, I might have to get some of that paint for my shirt when I go home this weekend. It's chipped a little in the past few months...

Evenstar: no bother. We all ask a lot of questions when we're new to a costume. My armbands just have velcro holding them. I thought about putting felt inside, but found that I really didn't need it. They aren't uncomfortable at all. At times they do almost glue themselves to my arms when I'm warm though.

Thanks! I ended up cutting Peltex stabilizer from Joann's and wrapping it with tinfoil and securing it with duct tape. The stabilizer helped keep the foil relatively smooth...it actually turned out better than I thought it would. I was going to use the aluminum flashing, but my parents and co-workers kept saying how sharp it was. When I have more time, I'll experiment with that. This will do for now
I'm done EVERYTHING except for the shinguards (I think I know how I'm going to do them). One week, haha!
I think that my favorite thing so far is the belt. I had bought the Rubies one and hate it (plus, it doesn't fit), so I ended up using it as a guide for making my own. Let's just say, I am now a huge fan of vinyl!

I finished my armbands this weekend! I'm really happy with the way they turned out. Here's a picture:
I decided not to do anything to make it look like it's several pieces for now, but I might later on. It was easily dentable with a ballpoint pen, so I might just do that later. Does anyone know how many pieces are on the original costume?

Thank you.

Of course you can ask! I went to Home Depot and got some sort of aluminum ducting sleeve. It looked like a cylinder that was open on both ends, and it was easy to take apart.
My dad and I marked where we wanted to cut it with a pen, which dented it pretty easily, and then we cut along the line as much as we could. On the 2nd one we were able to bend it until it broke off, but with the 1st one he used shearers/metal cutters to cut it. After that, we measured around my arm and cut for length. We sanded the corners so they were round and dull and used steel wool to sand down the edges.
I used industrial strength velcro to keep them together. As the pictures show, one end layers over the other--that's where the velcro goes. We had the fuzzy end of the velcro hanging off the bottom end slightly, and used some leftover velcro on the back of it to give it more strength. That way I have some room to adjust if I need to.
I hope that made sense. If you have any more questions, just ask me--it's early here and I'm not sure how much sense I'm making!

I'M DONE!!! Just in time to wear it to work tomorrow
You can't really see the seams or pintucks on the shirt, but they are there (and I wish my Dad would have said how wrinkly the shirt was before he snapped the photos, haha!). The hardest thing was those darn shinguards!
Now I just need to lose some weight! Haha!
Thank you to everyone for their help and advice!
I cannot believe I am done with this. And to think that a month ago I was considering the crappy Rubies costume.

wow, it looks so good! I love the shinguards and boots. I can't remember whether you'd said anything earlier about the pants, but are they leggings/where did you get them? I need to get some new pants for my costume.. And the belt looks really good too..

Thank you!!! I can't wait to wear it again tomorrow!
As for the pants, yes, they are leggings, and I got them at http://www.newport-news.com
Here's the direct link to the product:
http://www.newport-news.com/shop/Product.asp?gpcatID=2&pacatID=1649&subcatID=&catid=1708&superstyleID=196612&productindex=2&firstpagetypeid=&pageindex=0
If that link doesn't work, go to the main page, click "Fashion" on the top menu, then on the left side, select "Leggings." They are the $10 leggings.
They are a little see-through, so I got white pantyhose to wear underneath. But they are really comfy, and it's really easy to make a pintuck down the front and back of them if you want that effect
Take pictures when you are done!

Here are my pictures from this weekend. Eventually I hope to make a new belt and get the proper boots and shinguards, and like I said I want some new pants.
Happy Halloween everyone! Be safe tomorrow if you're going out.

Thanks so much, Jade-Walker! And thanks again for all of your help!
senator__padme, you look so cute! Great job on everything! The shirt and the arm-bands especially look fantastic! I hope you had a great Halloween!
My Mom took some more pictures of me when I came home from work; I'll have them up on my website sometime this week. Right now I am being lazy.
P.S. Everyone get their ROTS DVD today?
