No problem.
That looks fantastic! I have to ask, how did you attach your pouches? I got the same ones but I had alot of trouble attaching them to my belt.

My pouches are the only ghetto part of my costume now. I used the Rubies version(since they are fairly accurate) and stuffed them with foam(an empty toilet paper roll for the round one) and then cut the clips off of the costumebase version of the pouches and glued them on the back. And the belt is the costumebase version, just painted bone with Meltonian Nu Life spray.

First off, let me say that this forum has been so helpful and amazing. I've been lurking for a while, and been reading the posts and seeing the pictures...everyone's done an awesome job so far! All the good advice, tips, everything...you should all band together and write a book!
I did this costume for Halloween this year. I pretty much just threw it together last minute, so its got no chest or collar ribbing, no metal armbands (had to use silver ribbon *shudders*) a Rubies belt that I modified to fit me, the wrong boots, no seams on the pants, the wrong collar and a crummy hand made hairpiece. But it worked for Halloween Trick-Or-treating, got the character point across to everyone and was nice and warm, so I didn't complain. Until after Halloween I hate it when my costumes aren't at least 89% accurate. But anyway...yes, pictures! Here are a few. There's more on my PhotoBucket account in my signature. Dont laugh too hard at me now! Oh yeah, and please excuse the bad red-eye...I couldnt get it off :
my hairpiece.
Wow...sorry, I guess I got carried away with the pictures... Anyway, I'm hoping to perfect this costume over time.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier in the year but I found a pair of mechanical stretch (plain weave with lycra/spandex rather than a knit) ivory trousers that are big enough to cut down and to shape into the battle pants
Only problem is they are a Z wale twill rather than an S wale
For those who haven't seen exhibition closups this is a great one:
http://public.fotki.com/kait/star_wars/fidm_-_dressing_a/20naboo22.html
This shows just how heavy the knit fabric of her top is. But it also shows her pants are made from a very different fabric as it has a twill face to it. The lines go diagonally from left down to right like the middle of an S thus it is an S wale twill. My twill has the diagonal lines going the opposite way like the middle of a Z.
I could see this in at least one photo on Padawan's guide but this photo (and a few more from this album) really confirmed it.
Anyway I am hardly going to let that detail stop me from using this fabric but I will hunt around a little more for a suitable knit for the top half and use some other fabrics for a 2nd test pattern. My first test died a long time ago

Hey ladies, great costumes. My girlfriend recently expressed interest to me about obtaining a padme aotc battle outfit with the ripped battle damage. I thought, no problem, I'll just go to ebay's costumebase and get that one that I have seen for ages. Unfortunatley, costumebase no longer sells this outfit. Now, I know most of you girls make your own costumes, brilliantly I might add. But I was wondering if anyone knew where to purchase a battle damaged version of this outfit. Does anyone have one that they dont want anymore? Does anyone know if the cheapy store-bought padme outfit can be altered to look like the damaged version without it ending up looking crappy? Is this costume easy to make and Im just being a wuss? Let me know what y'all think.

That's pretty.. vague. Not sure what would be against forum policy, but if you ever have a question about if something is appropriate or not, feel free to PM Sister_Sola or any of the mods.

I do not mean to be a pain, but I am looking for a way to make a screen perfect, not acurate, perfect version of this outfit for my fiance'. I already bought the boots from Carlos Diaz with my Anakin Boots. Everything else I do not have covered. If anyone can give me the most amount of information they can. Thank you so very much,

Miana Kenobi, maybe the person meant "She(??) want to commission someone to make the outfit"?
If it's just asking how much the raw materials will cost or possible total cost, it's okay to ask here.

Hey Rev,
About the best thing to do is scour this thread for information. Making a screen-perfect copy will most likely lead you to making a screen-accurate copy. I realize that you probably meant accurate in the way of same fabric and techniques for the costume itself, but most people agree that, so long as it's 90-95% similar in looks, you're good. Sewing techniques can be sacrificed for easier methods that give a better result.
So, all that technical stuff being said, go through the thread and make note of the things and fabrics that have worked for people, and then jump in.

I have been through pretty much every page here but unless I am blind, I have not found any post that 100% agrees with a certain seller or maker. Another problem I come across is that it would be easy for anyone to just say, "The material I used is ____ and many people agree it is the best." When it comes to the difference between perfect and acurate, do not take this offensively, I am just stating the way I do things. Perfection is the only way for me. I go for 99.9%, I wish I could do 100% but that is impossible because my fiance's size is most likely different than Natalie's. I know with my Anakin Costume, I have a 98% acurate costume and I have been trying to get in touch with Trisha Biggar herself to pick up the the other 1.9%. If anyone else has any other specific instructions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
RevAnakin

Ah, I see. Your best bet, then is to find a copy of "Dressing A Galaxy" and read up on the costume in there. You can also find info at Star Wars: Fit For A Queen, Padawan's Guide, and several other dedicated Padmé costume research sites. Lots of great hi-res photos are available on those sites of that costume, too.

possible shawl fabric option:
waffle chenille
I know. I realize it's chenille, and I realize it's not exact, but the texture and the color go a long way for this fabric. Might be worth checking out - if not at this site, then any other that carries it.

I had a whole lot of links but I think I found the closest match I could:
http://www.faribaultmills.com/BlanketView.asp?StyleID=166&GoBack=-1
Good shots of the fabric of her cloak here:
http://public.fotki.com/kait/star_wars/fidm_-_dressing_a/page6.html
It's a really heavy weave and it really does look like it was recycled from a bedspread- the fabric has pills all over it.
Otherwise the links I spent a while hunting out:
Something like this would probably work well, "fringed baby throw":
http://www.greenelementsdesign.com/blank_reg.shtml
Her cloak is made with a diamond twill weave but it's as heavy as a bedspread or wall hanging I have seen and the fabric was really popular for a long time for furnishings.
The cotton blanket here too:
http://www.missionallergy.com/webstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=30
And here:
http://www.rawganique.com/Bed/organic-cotton-wool-blankets.htm
And some more:
http://www.yourblanketsite.com/site/1563644/page/722132
Not too bad for weight:
http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=29147&CatID=29147&Grptyp=STY&ItemId=12809d0
Ditto:
http://www.amazon.com/Faribault-Mills-Waffle-Blanket-Natural/dp/B000ALMPJ8/ref=pd_sim_k_img_6
Oh yes and I have one of these cellular weave blankets:
http://www.completecomfort.co.uk/blankets.htm
Not sure if I want to use it for the cloak or not. It would be warm though;)
