I've gone back to this costume, I did put it on hold for umm... 6 years wink And then started collecting little pieces here and there. I also patterned much of the top and have a mini guide as to how I'm making it in my journal and on the rebellegion.com

I have just been looking at boot options and given all we see of the atcual boot (as opposed to various layers of guards) is from ankle down it opens up a much wider range of options.
I am aiming to get a pait of leather boots in as pale a tone as I can to then paint them up. I am then free to get undyed leather to make the layers in the guards and paint them to match wink
So far I've found these options:
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/28899356/c/121427.html
Good sole, would need recolouring.
http://www.jamesandjames.com/htmlfiles/shoefiles/airwair/dmslatehipn.htm
Good sole, but the decoration at the heel might be too much work to disguise. I'm happy to chop extra detail off too.
http://cafepanik.com/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=203
Good colour, heel too high.
http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=46227&pg=5005871
Pale enough to recolour easily but the fit at teh ankle is missing.

Most stitch detail would be covered.
Timberland ankle boots.
Better price, again easy to change leather colour.

I'm looking at leather options today so I hoep to have something workable soon.

For those prices in addition, you could get custom ones from The Leather Boutique. Here are mine: http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l107/princessleia911/Padme%20Costumes/White%20Battle/DSC_0079.jpg

PM me for the details grin

Test pattern number 2:

Test pattern three in the morning after a nice big non-wheat/rye/barley/oat meal. And sleep.

Oh yeah, test pattern number 1 is here;

And I have boot bases happy They were on sale and so I got them for $NZ 20 the pair. They do need to be coloured but for the price I'm really happy to do that. Any boot would need to be redyed so that they match the uppers. Even better I thought they were vinyl but they are leather which is really much easier to permanently recolour happy

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of making this costume. I've seen on The Padawan's Guide that the cape has ruching(sp?) in the front to achieve the folded-over look. Can anyone describe a little more thoroughly how that is supposed to work? It doesn't really make sense to me. Thanks!
Sonya

Check out some more details here: http://angelsofiego.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13&sid=d655f196b7e0ddeb26e486b730215cb8

The cape is not really ruched but it crosses over in the front, giving that gathered look in front of her neck.

I got my first version of the top done today happy Aside from some minor clipping of seam allowances and thread it's done.

The pintucks weren't as bad as I thought they would be- I used a stretch stitch to make sure I could slip the thing over my head without popping any stitches, and usually that means the fabric gets pulled about too much under the pressure foot. But it went nice and smoothly happy
I did practically make two today and the first is in the scrap heap wink The top corners of the stepped seam were half a cm out each side. There is a certain amount of give in the fabric but that let the seams sit too far to the side.

For the stepped seam across the front, and even the square insert seam I really recommend going line by line and use pencil marks to match them up. Pins are ok but it really helps to have it absolutely clear where the fabric matches all the way.

The fabric is stark white though so I'll very very carefully tea dye it later this week.

My finished costume (this picture I'm missing a pouch--it got ripped off in the Comic Con crowd), and I'm already remaking the top in a thinner, less bulky fabric.
