No skit is required, nor is showing anything before hand. Though fair warning, I don't want you to be disappointed in the contest since that costume was entered last year. Though I'm sure you'll still blow the competition out of the water! (THough I'm not supposed to say that as a good friend of mine has entered two of hers together on her hubby and a friend)

Naboo_girl - glad you liked my April Fools Day spoof. The wig was really on the cat, but the visor was photoshopped on. :-) I'd love to dress him up, but he'd probably try to scratch my eyes out. He doesn't have a whole lot of tolerance for that sort of stuff, though he's a very personable cat. :-)

And your costume is just beautiful! The pictures look great, I think! And the costume looks just like the real one! :-)

I don't know if anyone has seen this at Starwars.com - there is a Star Wars Science and Art Exhibit in Tokyo and the Purple Senate Dress is on Display!

Photo From Exhibit

If anyone happens to visit the museum it would be great to get some additional notes on this gown happy

Hopefully the exhibit will make its way to the US like the Lord of the Rings Exhibit did.

I know the Magic of Myth exhibit has been all around the US - but I guess they vary the costumes they display with it? I know the Tokyo exhibit has at least the Purple Senate, Padme Tatooine disguise (from TPM), Amidala Parade gown, and Corde before and after costumes.

Magic of Myth in Brooklyn had Amidala red senate and Padme white battle. When it was in DC years and years ago, I don't think they had any good Amidala or Padme costumes with it..

But yes - it'd be nice if it came back with new costumes to photograph!

Yeah, when MoM was in DC, I think TPM was just barely into post-production stages. I remember going as a college graduation gift from my parents (so, 1998). It was an awesome display, but very very small. Lots of great costume photo ops for Leia, but nothing of Padmé's. I would love to see it again to see the gowns in person. happy

I've actually just finished putting together my scrapbook of our visit to the MOM exhibit in DC (March 1998-- yeah, I'm way behind!). There were several Leia costumes (I have pics of Bespin and ANH senatorial) but nothing from TPM at all. And of course I wasn't into costuming at all then so I don't have any detailed pics.

It was same with me. I saw it in DC around '98 too and I wasn't into costuming then. I could kick myself for the lost photo opportunities! But there certainly weren't any Padme or Amidala costumes! At least I got Leia Bespin pics when I saw it in Brooklyn! :-)

I seem to recall the exhibit being at the Air & Space museum. Some friends from work (a whole big crowd) ditched work on a nice afternoon and Metro-ed down! It was fun! :-)

Hello everyone!
I got back from Starfest late last night (I'm just now recovering) and it was a blast! I met Fenigdurak there which was really cool! I had great fun talking to you! I also got to see her awesome Padme corset gown. It is so much more beautiful in person.

I entered my Padme Loyalist Committee gown in the costume contest and won second place in the sci-fi movie catagory. Yay!

Here is a photo of my Padme Tatooine Peasent outfit, my sister's Leia Ceremonial gown and my friend's Legolas costume.

And one of FenigDurak and me in our Padme costumes. I just love her gown!

I can't even egin to describe how regal Naboo_Girl looked! I was so impressed with her workmanship and continued cheer after being on her feet so long! I know mine were hurting like mad! She took a very close second to Spawn (Who won best of show last year with Manga Spawn), and if it had been up to me, she'd have taken 1st. But that's just me. wink

I haven't uploaded my pictures yet, and all of the ones with NG came out somewhat blurry. The Gotham City Project took 1st in the TV category, and I have to say, it was a blast to be Poison Ivy for a night. Anyway, back to my lunch hour.

Okay, I don't know if this has been posted before or not, but here goes.

I found black iridescent sequins at WalMart a couple of weeks ago. They were $.33 a yard, and looked perfect for using on the bodice of this dress. I wrote down all the info - including the website for the manufacturer... and, of course, I've lost it now. sad

But it doesn't matter, because I did a search for "Black iridescent sequins" online about 10 minutes ago, and found this gem of a website:

Cartwright's Sequins

Black iridescent sequins EVERYWHERE! YAY!! And for pretty cheap too. Not a bad deal for this dress!

Cartwrights! I've used their sequins on my senate dress. They're really great to buy from and the shipping is quick and cheap. Definitely recommended!

Just for fun I thought I'd post a pic of Thandie Newton's hair in the upcoming movie: The Chronicles of Riddick. Sorta reminded me of the shape from the upper half of Padmé's style. raised_brow

That African headdress style does look like the top part of Padme's headdress doesn't it? It's interesting how a style like that has made it's way in to futuristic Scinece Fiction type movies. Well, I know Star Wars was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away... by you get me drift happy
