All the versions of this dress are wonderful and it makes me want to try again. Now that C3 is over, I can concentrate on a few select costumes that will take time for correct details. Kathy I LOVE the head dress and I wouldn't change it at all  Your dress is beautiful as well, it's still my all time favorite padme costume.

I agree, all versions of this costume are beautiful and I think we all learn and take little learnings from one eachothers work and research.
Benae - that would be exciting if you constructed the senate gown too! You already have the brooch figured out This is by far the most difficult costume I've made.
The coat for this ended up being much more challenging and time consuming than I expected. Partly because I pretty much ended up just draping the entire pattern myself with muslin (it's nothing like the patterns I started out with). The velvet has to be flat lined, the piping really needs to be basted in place before stitching seams together - and making an alteration to a seam with piping is a major pain.
All that said and done, I'm considering getting back to finishing the dye process on my picnic gown v 2.0 and revamping it for the ROTS premiere. I can't sit in a theater in a hoop skirt or worry about changing into my outfit after driving an hour to San Francisco. The picnic gown is much more comfortable.
I'll then finish up my purple senate gown and take it either to San Diego or Dragon Con in Atlanta

I figured I'd post an update on my progress. The sleeves are all embroidered and attached to my bodice. I'm kind of regretting not having taken the time to resew the seams on my bodice to get them smoothed out. It's kind of like cheating to say the coat hides it. Oh well. I have extra fabric so if it's every bothering me a great deal I could always tear apart the bodice, save the emboirdered and beaded parts, and reconstruct the rest of it. (right now the thought of doing that is like a nightmare)
By the way, it took me a while to do the sleeves because I redrafted them again after CIII. It took a lot experimenting to get the sleeves to hang with minimal puckering and strain at the seam lines.
Now to finish up the darn coat hem and lining and be done with this monster! LOL!

Thanks for cheering me on ladies! I'll probably take some quick pictures of the outfit put together on the dress form before I go camping next weekend. I'd like my husband to borrow our friend's lighting equipment so I can take my dress-up photos with the backdrop I used for my Arwen Mourning Gown photos. But if he drags his feet I'll just do a quick dress rehearsal and snapshot photos before I go to Comic-Con July 13th.
